Iris Gottlieb is one of our favorite artists, thinkers, illustrators and creatives. She has a point of view that holds humor, tenderness, depth and questioning that is inspired and expansive. Her latest book Everything Is Temporary is gorgeous and powerful and everyone should buy a copy (LINK IN BIO!) or copy this

As people who are still struggling to accept the impending reality of our transition into not being alive this book is salve, a wonder, a breath of fresh air, a deeply comforting smorgasbord of thoughtful reflections on the one shared by us all - we will die.

Thank you @irisgottlieb and @tarcherperigee for this beautiful book and for helping us to open up to this conversation in imaginative ways rather than running away from it every chance we get. #everythingistemporary

I just read a very wise piece of advise and I have to paraphrase here. You don't have to accomplish great things, you can instead, accomplish a lot of little things greatly!

I felt the urge to call my daughter earlier this evening. She died suddenly 8 years agonizing. Then I find your beautiful video . Kara loved sunflowers. I think maybe she called me instead. Thank you. Another great book, especially for children, is The Fall of Freddie the Leaf by Leo Buscaglia. 🌻

None of us are promised the next three seconds. When you really think of how everything in our bodies work together to allow us to even think about being alive, isn't that kind of a miracle?

Wow, so interesting, Mandy! We saw you in a one man performance at the Kennedy Center in 2002, i believe. It was part of a Stephen Sondheim festival and you sang songs from Sondheim shows. It was so wonderful. My stepmother took us as a surprise when she was visiting us from NC. I was 42 at the time and that was about the last performance I saw before I got sick and very disabled about 6 mos later with a rare nerve disease Trigeminal Neuralgia.
Anyhow, thanks for sharing this book. I see the author is from Durham, NC. I went to school a couple of hours West of there in Winston-Salem at University of NC School of the Arts. I went to the residential high school there to study music- voice, and I also went to college there.
I loved you and Adam Arkin on Chicago Hope. Was that the name? I loved the theme music, was it a trumpet I think?
Anyhow that was an awesome show!
My stepmother is a huge fan. Take care.

Looks like a very cool book. Death is still such a taboo subject, it's part of the human condition. We are intelligent enough to understand mortality - and vain enough to worry about it!

We should really take our cue from animals on this. Our pets don't fret about what will happen tomorrow, least of all ponder life after death. They wake each morning, yawn, scratch and after morning ablutions and thoughts of breakfast, are ready to grab the day that's been given to them - that gift appropriately called 'the present'.

We should be the same, strive to live in the moment with loving optimism, and leave our death for others to handle. Because after death and taxes, that much is certain - our own death is really none of our business!

About a year ago, I searched everywhere for the mushroom burial suit shown in this video. I didn't have much luck, and the lady who created it seems to have disappeared. If anyone has any purchasing information on the mushroom suit, please message me. TIA
