1.23456789... I HATE MATH! @#$%^&* -_- Why Math SUCKS!!!

Показать описание
In this video, we go over the all too-common issue of why so many students feel that math sucks.
In short, it's NOT FUN for a lot of students (a negative experience). "Not Fun" manifests itself as 3 specific complaints (discussed in the video):
1. It's HARD,
2. It's BORING,
3. It's NOT COOL.
I don't list these 3 reasons casually. Numbers 1 and 2, in particular, have hit close to home for me, many of my friends, peers, as well as many of the students I've taught, on many occasions. I COMPLETELY feel your frustration, whether you're a student, a parent, or a teacher/educator. Let's be frank-- the learning and presentation of mathematics has SO MUCH potential and can be a super FUN and wonderful journey! However, we are facing an epidemic, and if you ask many a student, he or she will tell you that "math sucks" or, at least, that "it's boring."
I am hopeful for, and excited about, the potential of this Art of Math: A No-Nonsense Guide (Version 1.0) to be a powerful tool in helping address this problem, and together with the many other great teachers, educators, and innovators around the world, to be a force for creating a TRUE education of the future, where students have efficient, meaningful, positive, and even joyful experiences in every day learning. Your guys' feedback, comments, and spreading the word about this series will be instrumental in making this series helpful for you and for others. We can do great things TOGETHER!
Sometimes, you need to get extra help, and you might not be in a position where you and your parents can afford it. Tutoring, especially with a good tutor, can be quite expensive. Or, you might not be in an area or environment where people can help you. I am here to help, to help you fill in the gaps and grow. If you need some help, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. And, if I can’t help you, I will do my best to direct you to people or resources that can.
On this channel, and in these series, I will NOT let you fail. You WILL succeed. And, more importantly, we will ENJOY the process. That doesn’t mean there won’t be tough periods. But, if you come here with a genuine desire to learn and better yourself, my promise is that you WILL get a lot out of these videos.*** If you’re struggling to keep up with any of my videos or have additional questions, anything at all- please reach out either via direct message or post questions and comments on the videos.
I want to give YOU guys the power back and focus on what is within your IMMEDIATE, personal, and internal control to help you succeed.
The GOOD news: You guys are SOOO CLOSE to turning all of that around and not only being great at math, but enjoying it, and having it enrich every other aspect of your life!
Let’s get started! I’ll see you guys in the assessment video:
For those of you that are wondering if there's a method to my madness, or who are just curious to read a little more about the "beliefs" part which shapes the math future for many students as well as the "boring" aspect, I invite you to check out these 4 great talks and articles, for starters:
I'm planning on doing many more videos related to the many issues raised in this video, so please let me know if there are particular points of interest you'd like me to expand on, or areas you feel I've missed, or anything at all.
