Yeah I noticed a lot of people who dislike 2093 are big fans of his 2021 projects. It’s funny how rap fans get bored of artists like Da Baby who never switched up the sound that made him successful, but immediately reject Yeat for switching things up and taking a risk.

EDIT: YOU ARE ALLOWED TO DISLIKE THE ALBUM. By “reject” I mean just listen to a few tracks and make jokes about it on twitter/tiktok or something like that. Sorry lol.

If you really understand the story and what he’s really saying this album is amazing. Production and effects on this album are insane as well. People get their opinions from instagram/twitter

i loved yeat's old sound but i'm so glad that he's taking this direction because the album genuinely sounds incredibly unique in contrast to his old sound which is getting quite oversaturated at this point. this album genuinely almost could not have been better and it will be crazy to see the WLR effect on this album.

I have a feeling this is gonna get the WLR treatment in the next year or so. It’s a little more challenging than his other projects so I get why people were thrown off. I’m not even a big Yeat fan but I really liked this one

I wasn't a fan of yeat before, I never liked his old sound. He caught my attention with "bigger then everything" and did not disappoint with the follow up. I love it.

10/10 album crazy experience. If u don’t like it as a yeat fan I seriously don’t know what you’ve been listening for this is the most authentic yeat has been. Back to doing majority of his own production, mixing and engineering, but now sober and clear and focused on crafting and curating his sound. This album is yeats baby and it’s a phenomenal back and forth of crazy sounds voices and living in the past present and future

SO HAPPY that Yeat decided to change up his style and experiment for this one. This is most definitely his best album so far. Don’t get me wrong, I love his old stuff too, but I really do think this is in a league of its own. Listening to some of the leaks and snippets, I think his next album is going to be golden. Peak Yeat era right here

I agree with this album being like a curated playlist that takes you away to a distinct setting. I had the same type of feeling, but a bit more abstract with Afterlyfe. It had loads of different sounds on it, but almost all songs just had this unsettling similarity to them in terms of how long the songs felt, how Yeat was ad-libbing on them and how almost ‘hypnotic’ they felt. The overall soundscape of Afterlyfe weirdly resembled this odd place of an ‘afterlife’ with how it wasn’t similar in the vibe it conveyed compared to other rap songs or even his own older rap tracks.

Thanks for the review Bob

That's my only complaint is the length. I'm loving the songs and I enjoy the project front to back, but it could have easily been trimmed down and had the same effect. I enjoy longer tracks, but only if the music progresses somewhere else than where we started. No doubt though this is the right direction for Yeat, off the drugs and exploring more sonics than he did in the past

You can see the age difference of Year fans through who liked this album and didn’t, people didn’t really stop to analyze the lyrics, Yeat telling his story about drug addiction and overcoming it, and how hard it is for him to keep his addiction suppressed, but he’s tells it well, and the beats are just a chefs kiss, it’s beautiful definitely in his top 5, or even in his Top 3, not even a debate, this shit on Dolby Atmos Speakers is literally futuristic

Bob you MUST react to Prelude To Ecstasy by The Last Dinner Party, it’s a new band that released their first LP at the beginning of this month, you will absolutely love it, lots of thinking about the lyrics and sonically refreshing

Hey Bob

Hope this message finds you in good vibes! Been a fan of your channel – your music takes are always on point. Wanted to shoot you a recommendation for your next reaction vid – Bas's "We Only Talk About Real Shit When We're Fucked Up."

So, Bas has been on a musical journey, globetrotting through five continents since 2022. And this album? It's like a world tour of sounds – dipping into afrobeat, East Coast boom bap, dancehall, R&B – you name it. The guy's practically a sonic explorer.

What's really cool is the emotional rollercoaster this album takes you on. From soul-searching vibes in "Ho Chi Minh" to heart-wrenching moments in "Diamonds" and then throwing in some fancy travel tales in "Passport Bros, " Bas covers a whole spectrum.

Bas also pivots toward more R&B feels and deeper vulnerability, adding a new layer to his game. Curious to hear your take on the global vibes and emotional twists he's serving up.

Looking forward to your reaction, man!

Cheers

not the biggest fan of 2093 for the simple fact that i enjoy his earlier work a lot more. but i do see the appeal and why so many folks like it. him battling his own demons in his own head while also changing his voice to sorta voice the characters in his head is so genius. I give props to him for trying something new and defeat something as difficult as addiction. someone that's been listening since him working with slayworld (underground rap collective
) and watchin him throw out tracks like off tha lot released back in 2021 he's obviously improved in his voice play, i've always enjoyed the weird switches in tone. eventually this album will grow on me. because i didn't even like yeat at first. but now he's literally one of my most listened to artists. love the breakdown bro. new sub here as well 🤞🏾
