CGR Undertow - CHRONOS TWINS review for Nintendo DSi

Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Chronos Twins on DSiWare for the Nintendo DSi developed and published by EnjoyUp Games.

Chronos Twins is a single-player action-platformer, similar to classics like Mega Man. The key difference is that Chronos Twins adds plenty of puzzle solving and a whole extra dimension. In fact, Chronos Twins is like playing two games at once. Your character exists in both the past and present, and you move both entities simultaneously. That means jumping in the present also jumps in the past, and given the differences in enemies and environment, that leads to lots of interesting level design and puzzles. Help save the planet Skyla from an evil alien invasion! Chronos Twins was originally released in 2007 in Europe as a physical release, but only made it to the States in 2010 on WiiWare and DSiWare. Chronos Twins comes from the developers of DSiWare's 99 series.

This video review features video gameplay footage of Chronos Twins on DSiWare for the Nintendo DSi and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.

I hope to see Chrono Twins on Wii U and 3DS one day! Also, why does Derek only talk about the Wiiware and DSiWare versions? Does he even know the original version on DS even exists?

Yeah, that's one of the drawbacks of having such a better resolution than the past system. Trying to blow up the resolution of older games into the 3DS' screen that has way more pixels definitely doesn't do those games any favors at times.

now, the question remains. why does the icon for the 3ds eshop look exactly like a blue majiin buu? i dont mean similar, i mean its literally majiin buu, but hes blue. the head tail thing and the ear...bump hole thingies are all there. and the in game spites look nothing like that...

Even though your intuition may tell you it's a better fit for DS because of the dual screens, the Wii version is actually easier to play. For one, it's easier to pay attention to both screens at once because they aren't as far apart as they are on the DS. Also, playing on a single screen forces each "screen" to have a much larger viewing area on the Wii than the DS, because of the wider aspect ratio. If you're looking for a similar game, check out Divergent Shift, also for DSiware.

Sure, in fact my first downloaded game for the 3DS was Shantae Risky's Revenge

This looks very interesting. Honestly, I see more Vectorman than Mega Man in this game though.

They ought to add some new features, spruced up the visuals a little bit, and layered 3-D and I'd definitely get it for the 3DS. DSi games just don't look all that great on the 3DS in my opinion.

You mean Fractured Soul? yeah. about that. the rules are a bit different. This = Two worlds and two characters. FS = Two worlds and only one of you swaping through each world with a press of the L button. think CronoTwins meets Mighty Switch Force!
