Instead of anchoring from aft, which will lock you broadside to wind and current, cast an anchor from the bow further off the beach and use it to draw you away from the mooring, while letting out rode on the mooring ball, you will now ride further out with the mooring as a safety back up if the anchor drags. Or, loop the anchor to the mooring line, let out more rode and drop the anchor further out to act as a 'bob weight' on the bottom.
