We love a Hydrotherapy pool on a cruise! In our review on Cunard's Queen Mary 2 Aqua Therapy Centre and Thermal Suite, we let you know whether it was worth $35 each for a two hour session. This video was recorded in August 2023, just before QM2 went in for a dry dock refresh, and we hope some of the things we highlight in this video are resolved when she comes back out.

As usual with our videos, we record these in a single take to give you our honest, non-scripted opinions. And as always our videos and all content is shot by us, in 4K and no stock images are used.

Have you been in Queen Mary 2's Aqua Therapy Centre? If so what did you think?

I've just come off QM2 (Oct. 2024) and I'm glad to report these issues have been addressed and the spa looks like it has had considerable attention. I had some trouble with the lockers, which had some malfunctioning electronic locks. Otherwise, everything working and in top shape!

Went to the spa all week when I was on earlier this month. I agree that the pool has a strong current! I got used to it. So true that older people would have a hard time. I was surprised by the depth. But a month earlier we were on the nCL encore and I really enjoyed the price on QM2. NCL was $80 a day, $400 a week while QM2 was $150 for the week.

We visited the thermal suite about a week after you. Same observations as you. I can swim but didn't like the fact I could barely stand with my head above water. My partner is taller but doesn't swim and didn't feel very safe in it.
Foot spa was a mystery to me after I finally worked out what it was!! it kinda worked but then didn't stop filling up with water and I thought I was gonna flood the place so hit the stop switch. (Staff seemed clueless about the facilities).
Aromatherapy sauna was working with the essence when we went. The biggest problem we had was using the digital lockers, what a flippin performance even the staff struggled to find one for us which was working. I actually didn't notice the missing tiles as I was too busy fighting "Niagara falls" !!. We never even found that long corridor with seats in, could see it but never worked out how to access it lol.
We found it an odd visit and I don't think we'd go back again unless we knew it had been improved.
P.S. On the plus side after a session in that pool I'm now ready to swim the channel !! Cheers Vik

The spa is extremely tired, fingers crossed it gets an update when in dry dock. I’m so looking forward to experiencing the enhanced spa and wellness area on Queen Anne though.

We sailed in July. I paid for the week and thought it was well worth the cost. The force of the current in the pool was a surprise to me too, but I got used to it. The reflexology basins were very finicky. Overall, it was a good value and I found floating in the pool alleviated my seasickness

thank you for posting this. It's been a few years since our last crossing. At that time, Canyon Ranch was the operator and it was clear their contract with Cunard was winding down. Do you recall the specifics, ie. all day pass ? multi-day package, Limited to 2 hours? do they still have the lemon and mint waters in the recliner area? thank you .

The pool looks a really good size - shame they have allowed it to get run down in places - hopefully she will be all shiny again when she is back from dry dock.

We sailed in Sept 2023 and bought the spa pass for the crossing ….spa pool was fine for me 5’10… but I had to help my wife…powerful …hot tub fine but the tiles needs redone on the facing….the foot spa wells things didn’t work ..the sauna worked after they reset the panel …most of showers worked ..the electronic lockers were not the best..often didn’t work …aroma therapy room opposite worked I guess …plenty of towels……The Queen Elizabeth had heated tile loungers that faced the ocean….those were wonderful…..Queen Mary 2 doesn’t have them but should….The rooms showed their age and need redone …this perhaps occurring in Rotterdam now with the refit…

We last sailed on QM2 October-November 2022. The COVID era 2 hour reservation ended on 1 November, replaced by the previous unlimited time, multiple entries on the same day policy. (With thermal site access included with many spa services). Multi day spa passes are priced at a sliding scale - e.g. a 3 day pass costs less than 2 individual days (hopefully this policy will be retained). The facility is tired - with no visible updates since we first used it in 2008. My understanding was that the spa was to have received a refresh during a canceled 2020 availability. Hopefully this will be included in the current availability [some QM2 in dry dock photos are circulating, so far none showing the spa interior]. The last time we saw the 'rain' feature was working was 2017 - that was also when the overhead above the spa's hot tub collapsed and needed to be replaced.

Hmm, I'm not sold on this at all - that pool sounds like mayhem, ha! It's surprising that they're charging the full price when so many elements don't work - let's hope it gets updated soon...

The ship is in dry dock at the moment so hopefully a lot of things will be fixed. I don't think Cunard is for us the ship looks a bit old fashioned and modern at the same time which is the theme I guess.

Ps I didn't know you are chair of Bradford Chamber of Commerce Mark, I saw a photo pop up on LinkedIn through a mutual connection.

I am sorry that you were looking forward to using the area to find so many things not working. Just by looking around I can tell that I won't be visiting as the whole place needs a good scrubbing. To see missing tile and multiple sections not working would make me ask for a refund.

Was this filmed before or after the QM2 refit (which I think was finished in November, 2023)?

So sad that Cunard would allow such disrepair. Did you get a refund? I am imagining the hard work that must be underway over the next few weeks to get her all ship shape! Did you use the salon at all? We will be onboard for 30 days and may need some hair help!

What is this dual narration? :D YES! NO! YES! It's so disturbing.

Looks shabby and dated. Not what I would expect from a premium cruise line. I recently cruised with Virgin, the thermal suite was really exceptional.

Sailed Southampton to NYC...found Aqua Spa extremely nice...steam and sauna were good...I find you folks way too critical...not to be rude, but it was a nice respite from the "maddening crowds" above deck....so don't be so hard on the old you where you wanted to go..right...so smell so roses and enjoy your luck of being to sail on QM2....
