It got more fun, when the Dutch also managed the first recorded occurrence of corporate espionage with a Dutch sailor landing on a British East India Company owned island. Fun times.

The Dutch East India Company at its peak was worth more than the entire Prussian Economy by itself, and the VOC owned more ship than the British Navy

If you ever come to the Netherlands I highly recommend a visit to the maritime museum and the VOC ship reconstruction of "the Amsterdam" or "the Batavia" very informative and beuriful to visit!

It was valuable enough that if you owned some joint stock, you could afford to purchase a colorful tulip

It was Dutch explorer Willem Janszoon who also rediscovered (for the Europeans, anyway), the Continent of Australia 1606. Even doing a decent job of surveying the coastline, with other Dutch explorers following.

You could do a vid about how the VOC was actually superior to the EIC for the start of the spice trade

Trade with the East is what drove Columbus to try to find a westward route to India for the Spanish and what drove the British to build the Suez canal to cut travel time and make the route safer.

Spices were so valuable that the British made beans on toast their national dish

A pocket full of nutmeg in Elizabethan/Jacobean England could net you enough cash to buy a modest mansion, retire, and hire a manservant for the rest of your life. The dockworkers were forced to wear special clothes that didn't have any pockets just so theft was less likely.
Also the VOC's Joint Stock system may have been the fiirst step to the modern Stock Market, but when that ship came in, you got your money back plus profit. And would then have to reinvest again. It wasn't until the English East India Company introduced their Continuous Stock system, where you paid in, got dividends relative to your investment, and kept your investment in the company until you sold your stock, that the modern concept of the stock market was truly born.

Yeah, the East Indian Trading Company was essentially the first megacorporation.
