GIS Mapping: Geographic Information System Workshop 2015

For STRIVE's multi-country study of alcohol availability, advertising and impact on young people, partners in India, South Africa and Tanzania are mapping the density of alcohol outlets in relation to the places where young people live and go to school and college.
At a workshop in Mwanza, Tanzania, researchers learned and practised GIS mapping technology and methods, as well as developing plans for research and uptake.
Chris Grundy of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine led the training and Tanzania's National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) hosted the workshop. Participants came from STRIVE partners the International Center for Research on Women (Asia Regional Office and Washington, DC), NIMR and the Soul City Institute for Health and Development Communication.
