N.K. Jemisin has rapidly become my new favorite author. I loved Fifth Season and then picked up The City We Became and was again awestruck. Her stories are so unique and well written.

The Princess Diarist was where my journey with memoir started and I remember loving it - Carrie Fisher passed away not long after I finished reading it (maybe only a day or so now I come to think about it) and I remember feeling so sad and connected to her in a way I never had before x

I never tried Goodreads. I started on StoryGraph a little less than 3 years ago when I saw a booktuber do a video that they sponsored. As a number's person, I love all their charts and graphs. Last year I joined some Fable book clubs. Fable has some book tracking, so I record my reading on Fable too.
I loved both Station Eleven and The Power

I've found that if Storygraph doesn't have the specific edition of a book I read sometimes they pick the wrong book, so I need to go through more carefully like you have.

That's one thing that's stopped me from deleting my Goodreads account, it has so much of my data!

This was a great idea for a video - although I personally thought it was a shame you were leaving Goodreads, as I'm staying on it hahaha - I created a Storygraph account but I've been ignoring it since making it....too many apps, too many social media sites....but anyway! - Shame they released Go Set a Watchman if she didn't intend to release it. I'll be trying Hobb for the first time - finally! You'll love the rest of the Wayfarers series.

I left goodreads before i left instagram 😂
I read Bookworm too, made me think that i wished i had started recording my reading choices from a long time ago ie, childhood and beyond.

Oh no, i have Lancelot on my wish list, i know there are a further 2 books but not sure if they are a continuance.

Fascinating to look back like this. Oh dear me yes The Unbearable Lightness of Bonking. I swapped from Goodreads to Storygraph a year ago but haven’t transferred my data because I thought the task would be chaotic or overwhelming as I know I have loads in Goodreads without dates attached. But if it generates a spreadsheet I can work through gradually perhaps it is doable.

I too left good reads for StoryGraph but don’t do much beyond log each month the books read- no ratings entered etc. I have Assassins apprentice on my fantasy TBR right after the fall of numenor that I am reading now- so it’s almost top of cue.

Luckily I heard about Go Set before I picked it up. Dodged a bullet there! 😅
I added a couple of these to my long list! 🤗

Natives was a great book I agree. I DNF’ed The Lightness of Being I just couldn’t get along with it AT ALL. It was fun seeing about your pre Booktube reading 📚❤️

Thank you for the great recommendations. Some of the titles I've seen around, but I've never heard anyone talk about (The Psychopath Test) and I will add to my pop. The Unbearable Lightness of Being is a mystery to me. I've tried to read it decades ago. and I just couldn't. I recently saw Sandy of Miss Reads a Lot talk about it in a video and she didn't like it. And you say it's terrible. So I wonder why it is on all these 'read before you die' lists.
I have both Goodreads and Storygraph. They both have different stats which I like. I love the Storygraph, but what I miss is the opportunity to connect with people to discuss a book when you see they are reading it. I miss the possibility to interact.
Have a good weekend. :)

To Kill A Mockingbird is one of my favourite books, and one of the books that got me into reading. I have never read Go Set A Watchmen, and I don't think I will by the sounds of it 😆Liveship Traders are my favourite Hobb books. I thought The Three Body Problem was rubbish, I can't understand the hype. Have you read Bernard Cornwell's Arthur books? They are my favourites, I read Lancelot but I don't remember it.

You know I loved long way to a small angry planet. I think you will enjoy the rest of the series. I definitely prefer StoryGraph 😊

I enjoy Arthurian stories too! Have you tried the Mary Stewart ones? They're goodies!

I only use Goodreads to count my books, yearly, 'bout it ... I rarely interact. 🖋

Go Set a Watchman--what a disaster! I do not believe that Harper Lee ever intended for that book to be released. Just horrible. You are the second person I've heard talk about Robin Hobb this week. I haven't read nearly enough fantasy, I think. It was really interesting to hear about your most and least favorites over the years, Jack.

I don’t think GR set up the official reading challenge until 2012. That was probably due to Amazon’s attention, since it was acquired a year later. I joined GR in 2009 and they only recently added those cheap reading challenges to help bolster popular book sales 😑
