happened to my copy of Halo 4, got it in 2012, kept it clean of scratches, kept it in the case. opened it up 2 years ago and the disc was rotted.

And it's not just regular DVDs. Warner's HD-DVDs (remember those?) were having the same problem, because they were from the same plant.

I can’t even tell you how much I wish the nemesis system wasn’t copyrighted, I just got into shadow of Mordor and holy SHIT it’s such a fun mechanic

Plus, there’s definitely ways that it could be improved upon and used in different formats, but no, Warner Bros just doesn’t wanna share its toys

This isn't WBs fault. This is called disc rot. and it has been an issue since the early days of laser disc. Some factories just made crappy discs that don't last.

It's Class Action Lawsuit time. It's their problem THEY need to fix it and replace all affected DVDs with the same (fixed) DVD. No coupons, it's not my problem if they don't own the rights anymore or if they sell/rent it anymore.

Whenever you get a new disc, always copy its contents to a hard drive

You probably don't even get the movie in a case. It's probably a disc, in a paper sleeve, in a mailer.
