Don’t think any of the newer people remember, but for us veteran players, the market place is NOT a new area. Back when the it was like the first, second, or third solstice event of the game, we would come to this area and talk with Ikora.

Managed to get a shiny weapon from Onslaught Salvation after defeating the boss at wave 50 (was NOT expert) had double perks and dropped as a fully masterworked weapon.

What I appreciate so much about Bungie as a Destiny veteran is that the new season is so complex that you are finally completely spared from new players. The community is getting smaller and smaller, but I now know the whole family of every member of my fireteam. Jack's sister is getting married next week & Steven's mom makes really good meatloaf.

If you want gear apparently you can farm Dul incaru (shattered throne boss) or first contact end cp before the pods to get seasonal with tonics every 2-3 minutes instead of playing onslaught for 40 minutes to an hour. Although if you want tonic ingredients onslaught is still the best farm method for those.

The story, go to Eido, craft a tonic, go to the holoprojector to talk to Eido, who is standing right next to you, go talk to Eido, go to gather ingredients, talk to Eido on the holoprojector, craft a tonic, talk to Eido. Season part 1 over.
