2021 is shaping up to be a little special for sci-fi movies, as far as genre films are concerned, since we're finally getting to see all of the movies that were supposed to come out last year, but were bumped ahead on the release calendar. That means we have giant apes and nuclear-powered lizards, guys who strap rocket engines to cars, time-travel romances, sandworms, and approximately a bajillion superhero movies to look forward to this year. That's great news for fans of science fiction and fantasy who got a little shafted during cinema shakeups last year. The first half of 2021 was off to a strong start for sci-fi movie fans out there.

It would be nice and more honest if you specified whether the rotten tomato score you quote is the tomato-meter critic score or audience score as they are always different and you switch back and forth between the two depending on which score is best (which seems slightly misleading). If you're going to switch back and forth at least clarify which one you're quoting.

Went to watch "Space Sweepers" after this list. That was one of the best sci-fi films I have seen in a long time. Highly recommend it!

Half of these aren’t even sci-fi.. they just have space or sci-fi in it but they are entirely just human drama
I’m so sick of searching for actually good fictional stories but nope everybody wants to make it either political drama or a stupid love story or a pointless horror
Seriously how do ppl make these crap and even worse how tf do you ppl enjoy watching only drama, i can’t even watch the new series “lost in space” because I find it’s not trying on the sci-fi, I have a feeling they will just make up some dumb reason but so far the first 3 season are just family drama and some outside antagonist.. it’s cool they included the robot but I bet it’s gonna be an AI that took over that alien race or something similar.. I also got really into this one sci-fi about making a human weapon, they glow blue &have super strength &can breath in space by using an alien organism to control the human (forgot the name) but the “human/alien” isn’t controllable.. ya I doubt I’ll even watch the new 5th season.. they got rid of the cool science and mystery of it and turned it into a government political fight for ownership of the alien/weapon
Like we already have hundreds of thousand of those same exact stories but nope ppl just keep remaking old stories, no fucking creativity in this generation at all, just thief’s stealing and copywriting
