Caboose On CSX Remote Control Train! Crew Rides The Caboose For Long Reverse Moves. This is a CSX freight train that does industrial switching along the main line. The train just crossed a railroad crossing in Covington, Kentucky and is returning to the yard. Not many cabooses are in use on trains in America. This caboose is used as a shoving platform so that the crew can have a safe place to ride during a long reverse move. I filmed this train going in the opposite direction with the caboose on the rear. They worked a customer and then returned. There was a loaded welded rail train on a siding with a caboose and this train passed it. Too bad I couldn't find a place to film the two cabooses at one spot or I would have. When was the last time that you saw a caboose on a freight train? I'm always looking for cabooses and a few of them that I use to film on local freights are no longer in use. So I posted this as soon as I could!
This video was filmed July 12, 2022AD
Do you like cabooses and do you know where I can film one in action? Please leave a comment!
Thanks for watching! If you have time, please watch another video of mine to help keep my channel going. Every view helps support my channel. Viewing time helps pay for gas, motels, rental cars etc. I have a list of places that I plan on filming so watch another video of mine if you have the time.

Please watch another JawTooth video to support my channel

Great catch of the Remote Controlled CSX local train! It just amazes how modern technology can perform such duties as such on something so massive!

Just another facet to modern day railroading. The nearby Weston generating plant uses 3 ALCO S3s run by remote control to feed the rotary car dumper. To my mind there is just something right about a train with a caboose. Thanks much for the video.

The Army of 1, great catch JT, and who can't love a caboose, especially one still in service.

All in all that caboose was in good shape and they are rare. None left in MKE area. An afternoon visit from JT is like a pick-me-up bottle of Dr. Pepper!

The MRL yard in Laurel, Montana, runs remote control industrial jobs like this to the nearby natural gas plants.

The Northern Lines railway in central Minnesota has an ex-BN cupola caboose that seldom gets used, but they used it a week ago. This caboose is equipped with a headlight & horn to be at the head end of the consist. The caboose is used for " switch run " trains that serve several industries on a former GN/BN main line. Northern Lines trains do appear to have both an engineer & brake man & they sometimes have a switch man who rides along the side of the track in a pick-up truck.

Another awesome find JawTooth! That caboose did not look bad. I did not know it was legal to drive a train with just one person on board outside a yard. Learn something knew.

We used to get Remote Control Trains without engineers or cabooses in St. Louis when I lived there. They used to frighten the sh*t out of me.

Nice to see a caboose on the loose. Hope they buy good batteries for the remote. I hate it when my remote doesn't work. I don't have a caboose... that's not the problem. But sometimes the TV won't go on and it takes a while to figure out what went wrong. See ya soon... probably tomorrow. Gracias por tu video, Señor Jaws. RT sends, Puebla, México...

As I kid I always liked seeing the blue Conrail cabooses going by in Springfield.

For industrial switching, it really helps to have a small switcher engine at the caboose-end, so that if a car has to be pushed into a siding that is opposite the direction of the main engines, then that car can simply be disconnected from the main-engine part of the train, and then the switching engine can spot it on the siding since the switching engine will be on the proper end of that car being switched, to do that job properly.

CSX is making billions in profits but to cheap to have a 2 man crew, it’s ridiculous. Cool video though JT👍🏼😎🇺🇸
