This is not a usual vid I would make, but Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has definitely left a big impression on me and sad to see this series come to an end, had the biggest potential to be more than just a kids show. The story was progressive, well written and the animation was just GOD TIER, it was like Studio Trigger (Gurren Lagann, Kill La Kill) had a baby with TMNT and gave us "Rise of the TMNT".

The fight choreography in this series is just insane, literally, Naruto inspired fights with a sprinkle of Studio Trigger inspired animation. To all the people who slept on this because of weird character changes, or they "don't like it because of X....", really judged a book by its cover. Think of it as an alternate universe, similar to the concept of the Spiderverse, same, same, but different. In my opinion from these past 2 seasons, this series is a prequel to the turtles we all love and grew up with just a new spin on the formula that has been recycled for decades (Hint to the ending scene of this series).

Enough of this small rant, hope you all enjoyed this little edit, check out the series if you're an all-time TMNT/anime fan, just give it a go, and hopefully after the sequel movie to this series Nickelodeon will renew it or Netflix will continue this series as a Netflix Original and see the potential of this series as I and most other people in the TMNT community have too.

I think it’s important to note how SMART the turtles were in this fight. They were 100% outmatched by Shredder in almost every way, so they focused on keeping him on the back foot by changing the fight constantly.

Rather than rushing him together, they alternate, letting Leo’s speed get him invested, only to immediately swap to Raph, who’s clones could take the hits with no repurcussions, then April got him off balance with concussive forces and Karai’s visible shock on him, then Mikey only wrapped him up long enough to get his attention and get a solid hit in, before letting Donnie deal a single GIGANTIC hit with the drill.


This was a perfectly executed strike. And while it didn’t finish him off, it did as much to weaken him as possible.

This Show has the Godliest FIGHT SCENES in any TMNT series and honestly some of the choreography from the series OVERALL hits better than some mainstream Anime. God I love it

And to think this scene in particular was rushed due to Nickelodeon shortening the deadline and axing the show. But the animators still managed to pour all they had into it. Such a shame that the show was critically judged and dismissed based on the looks of the turtles. I was instantly sold when I first saw the opening intro.

The fact that this Shredder was defeated by THE POWER OF FRIENDSHIP (and family) makes it even more anime, LOL.

Not just the animation but the choreoraphy is flawless too, all the while keeping it true to the character of the turtles. They could have easily had them be soulless "badasses" during this fight but no, each and every single turle has their own, unique, characteristics during this fight. This should be preserved as much as possible. The effort of the animators here can't be overlooked.

Just binged the second season. IMO the best TMNT show. Almost literally anime short of being made in Japan. I don’t think any other show they’ll do will have fight scenes this good and epic. The most OP versions of the Turtles we’ll ever get. I really hope Nickelodeon brings it back for 1-3 more seasons. I know they’re still doing a movie for it apparently. Maybe that’ll revive interest in it?

I think it’s interesting how they get there classic weapons back, and there mystic powers, but with a twist.
Raph’s tonfas could create basically a mystic avatar around himself. For gauntlets, size, and strength. Then his sai’s expand on that allowing him to create mystic construct copies of himself. Basically shadow clone jutsu.

Leo’s odachi sword could create portals that allowed him to teleport. Then his katanas allows him to teleport to anyway the swords are, evening teleport different people from sword to sword. Literally the flying raijin.

Mikey’s kisari-fundo could create fire and expand to any length, allowing for grappling and fire manipulation. Then his nunchucks are able to do the same, but this time he has dual nunchucks for more melee. Able to expand at any length as well.

Donnie’s techstaff was like a utility belt for anything, melee, selfies, jets, flight, grappling, etc. Then his mystic staff allows for more melee, able to create constructs, expand to any length. Its even able to interact and enhance his donnietech.

The part when Leonardo has the sword in his mouth put the piece sign up and disappears then Raphael comes and grabs his sword in mid air is so epic!

I like how literally everyone is in agreement that the haters idiots for judging this show based on their designs alone. Now we all agree it has memorable characters, emotional weight, kick-ass fight scenes, funny slapstick, and GOD-TEIR badassery!!!
