CHOREOGRAPHER TURNED COMEDIAN:
Jamie Benson, proclaimed “one of the strongest, hottest contemporary dancers of his generation" by LA Times critic Lewis Segal, and “crazy” by Dance Enthusiast’s Christine Jowers, is a choreographer and comedian. Benson's lowbrow meets highbrow dance work has been presented at the Park Avenue Armory, Luckman Arts Complex, Bootleg Theater, NY Transit Museum, and Proctor’s Theater. Called "Chaplin-like” by Backstage and “insightful and irreverent” by LA Weekly’s Ann Haskins, Jamie Benson has been featured in the New York and LA Times, the Phaidon Press book Wild Art, and was awarded funding from the Brooklyn Arts Council.

As a comedian, Benson has performed for Broadway Comedy Club’s Yaaas Fest and Thoroughly Gay Thursdays. His video sketch Avenue WTF was an official selection for Philly Sketchfest, Battle of the Sketches, Portland Comedy Film Festival, NYC Short Comedy Film Festival and NYC Independent Film Festival. As a producer spotlighting LGBTQIA+ talent, Benson has presented 50+ stand up, sketch, dance, and cabaret acts with The Straight Man at Peoples Improv Theater.
