Paul Whiteman And His Orchestra - Trav'lin' Light (BILLIE HOLIDAY)
Показать описание
Paul Whiteman and his Orchestra play "Trav'lin' Light", with vocals by Billie Holiday (labelled as 'Lady Day').
The large orchestra that backs Billie includes Lester Young, Artie Shapiro and Trummy Young (who composed the tune, with words by Johnny Mercer). The excellent arrangement is by Jimmy Mundy, who also received songwriter credit. Skip Layton plays the warm toned trombone solo (he is named on the printed record label).
The Capitol engineers capture Billie's voice beautifully. This transfer is taken from a single-sided shellac "sample record".
