I can't be the only one who's not convinced the rockets were adding any significant amount of force to the swing.

Instead of angling the tubes you should've just welded them parallel to the head to really take advantage of the extra force. I'd say your rocket fuel ratio was off and acting more like a smoke bomb - if you can still lift the hammer as the motors are firing, they're definitely not producing enough thrust.
Also, set up a trigger system with a 9v battery that runs to some steel wool for an easy electric igniter, that way you know all of them go off at the same time.

It would have been interesting to try a couple of swings at a force sensor, see just how much more force you're generating vs the extra weight.

i think if you can lift the hammer while the rockets are still going they don't really add any force to the hit

this thing looks like what you'd expect from a nerf sponsorship in a video game with a crafting recipe of a broken sledge hammer + six jumbo sized nerf darts + 100 custom nerf gun kits just to give the item some artificial value through the difficulty in crafting it
