Right if they are publicly funded, how are they considered private institutions?

Let's make them completely private by taking away tax exemptions and federal funds. Then, you can do and say what you want.😁

I hope Harvard loses tax exempt status. Didn't know this business was exempt, it shouldn't be

Protecting students shouldn't depend on politics. But, rather than Harvard taking accountability, they're suing Trump for calling them out.

No more taxpayers money for the universities! They need to pay their own bills!

If you’re taking our money. You are accountable for the your actions to the American people

You’re right — the President shouldn’t have to get involved. But this kind of behavior has escalated into a national security issue. The Constitution protects free speech — not institutions that excuse hate.

The issue is not free speech that Trump does not like. The issue is concerning the protection of Jewish students. Both host and lawyer purposedly ignored this key factor. This is the problem.

Trump Team is phenomenal!! 🎉❤🎉 Congratulations America there’s finally accountability. Harvard used to be respected before it was woke.

Better question WHY does the highest profile school in the world exempt from tax in the first place?

Private colleges are for profit businesses. Therefore these colleges should pay taxes.

This is a Private Universtity - Tax exempt is laughable. Public University yes of course they should be tax exempt, however this is wrong and abuse of the American taxpayer.

It's bullshiggity that they get any funds from taxpayers if they are private. !All things are not lawful, so all things are not expedient! You have been around a long time and doing corruption a lot of it.

If an institution is federally funded, the federal government should have the rights to investigate where their money went and to cut any other privileges that the feds have given them if there are activities against federal policies.

How is a Harvard tax-exempt when they charge around $75, 000 per year for tuition, which includes dorms and meals? This sounds like a "for profit" institution instead of a 501(c)3 non-profit organization for which they are registered.

Does Harvard educate the public? Subtract all the non-citizen students and those born from alumni, Politicians, etc. not sure there is much Public in that place.

I don't believe a university can be an American Citizen the University is not guaranteed any Standing as a Citizen which would give it rights.
