You are more likely to be harmed or attacked by a family member or someone you know. I live in an apartment complex and I learnt along time ago to not get friendly or talkative with people in the complex. Just because you live next door to me doses not mean you are my instant friend. If you have toxic people in your family than get them out of your life. Just because they are family members dose not give them any permission to treat you disrespectfully. You don’t have to spend Christmas or thanks giving with them, go to weddings or funerals of family members if they abuse you in any way. And as for dating someone you pretty much know whether you want to continue on with this person. You need to study the person that you are on a date with. If there are red flags then end the date and tell them politely that you don’t want to go on another date and then casually leave. If they don’t get the message then you need to start ghosting that person. You need to have very strong boundaries in your life where you keep certain people out including your family if they are disrespecting you. Just because they are related to you dose not give them permission to abuse you. Just like we put up fences around our homes we need to put boundaries up around ourselves too.

The Moab police officer who shared his insightful assessment of the Gabby and Brian scenario should be fired, prosecuted for not following standard police procedure in Utah where if someone calls law enforcement over a domestic disturbance, SOMEBODY GETS ARRESTED AND IS TAKEN TO JAIL. Statutorily, the police are not allowed to make the type of assessment that this officer made. The fault is to be left up to the prosecutor and judge/jury if a trial happens. Somebody has to go to jail. In this case, had the officers taken Gabby to jail for "starting" the incident, then MAYBE SHE WOULD NOT BE DEAD AT THE HANDS OF HER LOVING FIANCE.
