2022 Ford Escape Recall 22S73

This is the recall to add a drain tube to the side of the cylinder block in case the injectors crack and leak. it will run through the drain tube to the ground instead of all over the engine.

Remove air filter and housing. Remove battery and tray. install hose and route it. Reinstall everything and reprogram the PCM.

I really appreciate you doing this vehicle. My escape is being done tomorrow. I’m really bothered by this recall because I park my car in the garage and I have a disabled family member that should my house catch on fire from a leak I could be screwed. I’m seeing the comments and you would definitely smell fuel should a injector crack and start to dump fuel onto the ground. I’m absolutely shocked Ford is being allowed to do this instead of making injectors that don’t crack. I myself am very seriously considering getting rid of the car for this issue.

Just got my escape back…after talking to several of the master techs they feel that the injector cracking issue is a defect in the head of the engine. Mine showed no signs of cracked injectors and they advised they have done about 25 of these recalls and have yet to see any with cracked injectors.

There is actually a bit of a problem with the location of the tube. On my girlfriend’s escape, the clip the holds the tube to the frame broke and the tube rubbed against the CV without us noticing. When I changed her tires, I noticed her boot was ripped. Luckily it was repaired under warranty but I’m sure she’s not the only one that this has happened to.

Thank you for this video. I am getting my 2022 Escape done tomorrow at my local ford house. So if the injectors crack and spill fuel it is supposed to be funneled off by this hose? If that happens will you get a code to let you know of this? What is the reasoning for reprogramming the computer? I am not a mechanic but this process seems to be a joke. Could the car still catch on fire? I think I am about done with ford my previous 2019 fusion had the cylinder coolant leakage issue and I had to get the small block replaced. you really don t need to take the battery out, just the air cleaner and housing to access the hole

So this just drains our fuel out onto the ground. Like how much fuel are we talking because it seems to me this could cost consumers insane amounts of money especially as gas prices skyrocket and the whole point of these engines being so small and such high pressure was to save fuel and thus pollute less.

My guy amazing video but quick question is it possible to by pass removing the Battery and battery tray and just slide it under or around the battery tray? I’m a Ford tech too

This is not a viable "fix" for this recall. This is just a bandaid because Ford knows this is a design flaw in this small engine. So u think it's ok to drain gas and gas vapors onto the ground or garage floor? And that sensor is to let the driver know the pressure has dropped because of a cracked injector....and u need to pull over and get out of the vehicle before it burns. I loved my baby bronco, but i got rid of it. I love my family and my home more. If this were just about bad injectors, Ford would just replace them.

AJ's back! Looks like an easy job. I've been "playing" around with a friend's 2011 Escape Hybrid. The car loses power and the red triangle and Pull Over Safely appear on the instrument cluster. He shuts off and restarts the engine and goes on his way. It only happened intermittently. I believe it is happening more frequently lately. I pulled codes C1015 and P1A1B. Sounds like a brake boost vacuum leak. I have to check and see if the vacuum pump is working and also check the line check valve. I don't have a bi-directional scanner to energize the vacuum motor. It appears there is a vacuum pump relay. In the old days we pulled relays and jumped terminals 30 and 87. Can I do this to verify pump operation or check to see that i have power?

That is not a fix. My boat has a leak the fix is a bilge pump.

All you have to do is take the intake pipe out and shove it down. Crank the wheel to the left and shove your arm down there and shove it down the side of the transmission. I do it mobile and can do it in 15 min

hi sir, how i can get this drain hose, is there any part number please, i shipped my car out of US and in my location there's no Ford dealership,
