I feel so bad for Maddie she was pushed to be perfect and could never just breathe without getting compared or being pushed.

as a 14 year old girl, watching dance moms, i cant go one episode w/o crying, this is such abuse, it reminded me of my childhood, when i was verbally abused my mom, and kept telling me i’m nothing but shit, why do parent let their kids go thru this?

It’s crazy to me that people didn’t think Maddie had trama from this cause she was the “favorite”. Like that little girl had so much pressure on her from her mom, Abby, and the constant pinning her against everyone to be better. You can tell that cause major anxiety even in the first season when anytime she messed up even a little she was full on panic attacks as a child. And this goes for all the girls, like why would you put these children through this just for some entertainment.

Maddie constantly had a lot of pressure put on her not just by Abby but by the producers. When people consistently hold you to high standards, it's stressful.

As a mother, I can't put in any nice words how disgusting I find those greedy "mothers" exploiting their kids for cash and fame. They are basically selling their kids like slaves.... Makes me so angry

I was watching one of Mackenzie’s vlogs a couple weeks ago and she talked about how she had a panic attack and got flashbacks from the show bc she hasn’t danced for so long. I hope all these girls get the help they need and are doing great things

honestly the parents are VERY MUCH the main problem, I get it maybe the parents have to because of that stupid contract but the way some of the dance moms parents acted was honestly unbelievable. When I was a literal 10 year old I was like what kind of parents are these, and dance moms should honestly be CANCELED. Surprised how it’s still running after Abby literally
stole money to create the studio. If dance moms never existed or if Abby wasn’t such a b word then none of this wouldn’t have happened. It’s messed up how dance moms completely STOLE their childhood and replaced it with trauma.

i think it’s honestly really unfair to place that much blame on the moms. they signed the contract BEFORE they understood the disgustingly toxic environment. yes they obviously were excited to be on a tv show, but they did not know at the time how nuts it would get - they didn’t even understand that the show could get picked up after the first 6 episodes. and they desperately tried to get out of the contracts after the fact like maddie said, but it was nearly impossible and the producers were constantly threatening them that if they left their houses would be taken away and their lives would be ruined. wtf are you supposed to do? i’m not saying the moms are totally blameless, but i am saying that we have no idea the situation they were in and it was clearly awful.

i’m also not gonna deny that their behavior sometimes was disgusting. and some of it was real. BUT, they have all said that the producers would literally tell them they could not eat or leave until they started fights and caused drama, so a lot of the time they just started fighting so they could go home and feed their kids.

My granddaughter actually danced on same team with JoJo in NE. I was horrified by this show. We would have never allowed our child to participate on that dysfunctional show. Our beautiful young lady is now 20, attending a prestigious dance university in NY and a beautifully trained dancer. A true artist. She is confident & stable. I have spent a small fortune on her, but always tell her she is the best investment I have ever made! Let’s just be honest. Those moms used their daughters to earn their money. Shame on them.

This relationship with Sia is sick. When Michael Jackson was doing that he was brought up on charges. And the fact that Melissa allowed this speaks volumes about her.

I feel so bad for all the girls and it's so heartbreaking that the girls had to fake their personality for the show

I started dancing at 2 and I danced for 14 years. I quit about 3 years ago because of the trauma. I still do get panic attacks every few weeks to months depending on triggers. I was known to be good or better because I was in dance for so long I would always get solos which made other girls mad so I got bullied. I started competitive dancing at just 3. My mom is the one who put me in that situation too, my dad didn’t want me to but she kept me in there. If I didn’t get 1 move right I would be screamed at yelled at in front of everyine and be embarrassed in front of everyone. I was just 2 when I started so I had so much more experience than everyone else so at 5 I was put In the 10 yr old class and at 10 I was put in the 16 yr old class. You see how that made me so hard on myself because I thought I was the only one who couldn’t do moves and spins like them. My mom even was considering putting me into dance moms we actually got a call but after lots of thinking she kept me in the studio I was in and although I still have trauma from it I am happy I didn’t go there. You might have heard I’m not sure but the girl who was from Louisiana New Orleans yea. Went right back lol
