Origins
The first structure on the site of St Paul's Cathedral was a wooden church built in 604 AD, which was destroyed by fire.

Old St Paul's
A new church was built on the site in the 11th century, which became an iconic landmark of medieval London. It was destroyed by fire during the Great Fire of London in 1666.

Current structure
The current building was designed by Christopher Wren and constructed between 1675 and 1710. It's made of Portland stone and combines Neoclassical, Gothic, and Baroque architectural elements.

Events
St Paul's Cathedral has been the site of many significant events, including the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana, Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, and the burials of Admiral Horatio Nelson and Winston Churchill.
