I have been learning violin for 8 weeks(as of this past Friday, Dec 27, 2024), as an adult beginner at 35. I enrolled my 7yr old daughter in private lessons back in September at the Christian academy she's in, and i have attended every one of her lessons so i know how she needs to practice at home. Well in the middle of October i decided to grab her(1/8 size) violin and see what i could do myself. And i was doing all the songs she was working on at that time. So i prayed about it and the LORD led me to buy a full size for myself, at a tremendous deal, for my birthday on November 1. Her instructor told me i could bring it in to her lessons and she would teach me as well so i can help my daughter, as well as she's having me work towards the credentials i need to meet to get on the orchestra in our church. Well i finished my first music book, Essential Elements for Strings book 1, and am now beginning Suzuki book 1. We are on Christmas break and i ended up really improving my bow articulation, so i wanted to challenge myself and i immediately thought of this video. So i downloaded the sheet music and printed it out. Every now and then i will pull up this video to make sure my rhythm is correct, but at 8 weeks I'm already at least hitting every note on this piece. The first 2/3 i have the rhythm and speed, shifting and tone are pretty well, nowhere near perfect, but not bad. Had to come back to hear the rhythm for the last 6 lines, cause that's where I'm struggling right now. But I've got everything before that down pretty well. I've been working on this piece since Friday, Dec 27, 2024. And i just why to thank you for making this available for me. I truly appreciate it. Of course it's only possible for me by the grace of the LORD Jesus Christ. But i want to encourage others to know that it's never too late to learn a new skill or to pick up an instrument. But of course it takes dedication and persistence and a ton of practice. I was practicing about 8 hours a day, without overdoing it, just losing a few hours of sleep each night. So i cut down to about 5 hours a day, but now that I'm working on this piece I've picked it back up to about 8 hours average. I didn't count, but I'm pretty sure i practiced about 10 hours on Christmas day. Most of my practice takes place at night of course, being a single father to 2 girls, as well as running my own roofing business. But i practice with my girls a lot as well. I even got my 3yr a toy guitar for Christmas so she could participate, and of course she calls it her violin and holds it like one. She is really good at plucking the strings already, so i have high hopes and expectations from both of my girls. Praise the LORD Jesus Christ, He is so good.

Nice tutorial, Thank you for the effort. As an adult learner (3+ years now with an emphasis on Celtic Fiddle), I would like to pass on a couple things that I find helpful;
1: The playing starts too soon - a short interlude, maybe a 1/2 note, or more, before you start playing would be beneficial, as once 'play' is clicked the music starts right away making it difficult to start at the same time as your vid. (I usually come in on the E or D)

2: I found it much easer to play the A Part by starting with a down stroke on the 16th A, but not slurring the next 2 32nd notes in the same bow, but rather one (down) stroke for the A followed by slurring the 32nd F and G in an up stroke, and the same for the next A (down stroke), then sluring the F and G (up stroke), THEN slurring following 4 32nd notes in one bow, and the same for the remaining 4 notes, and etc. I do this for all 16th + 32nd notes in other Bars and measures in the A Part.
