What's an illustrator and travel book author like me doing in a museum drawing little dragons? Well, for two months, from October to late November 2023, the MAO Museum of Oriental Art in Turin became my home. During my artistic residency, I had a blast creating an imaginary world full of mythological creatures from the oldest Asian cultures, all present in the museum's artworks: boars, tigers, white elephants... and dragons! It's actually Rui, a little dragon, who's the main character of the gamebook with playing cards that I wrote and illustrated, and who knows, maybe one day you'll get to read it and, most importantly, play amidst some of the 2300 museum's artworks. Happy Chinese New Year to all, Rui and I are off to party! 🥳
Cosa ci fa un'illustratrice e autrice di libri di viaggio come me in un museo a disegnare draghetti? Beh, per due mesi, da ottobre a fine novembre 2023, il MAO Museo di Arte Orientale di Torino è diventato la mia casa. Durante la mia residenza artistica, mi sono divertita a creare un mondo immaginario fatto di animali mitologici proveniente dalle più antiche culture asiatiche e presenti nelle opere del Museo: cinghiali, tigri, elefanti bianchi... e draghi! E' proprio un draghetto il protagonista della storia che ho scritto ed illustrato e che, chissà, magari un giorno potrete leggere e soprattutto giocare in mezzo ad alcune delle 2300 opere del Museo. Buon anno cinese a tutti, io e Rui andiamo a fare festa! 🥳
