Yun Jin gets another VA making her the only character with 2 voice actors on all 4 dubs, the Chinese VA is actually an opera singer that's not involved with the Chinese dub and plays some part in Yun Jin's voice overs especially in upcoming Lantern Rite event. This is a nice addition MiHoYo's team have thought out to share more about her culture and the overall quality of the character

Agreed - nothing feel WRONG in this effort. I love the fact that Yun jin is realized from an actual living tradition.

As someone who hasn't seen any Chinese opera, her singing caught me off guard but I didn't think it was weird. Different traditions and different forms of entertainment plus that's without music. A lot of lyrics/singers would sound weird af without background music. I can't wait for her to finally release! She looks awesome!

You can’t really dub this opera style and not lose part of its flavor of culture. While it’s definitely surprising to hear at first, it makes sense why they want to keep the original Chinese singing for all dub. Just appreciate her uniqueness or pick another 4star if you can’t get over it lol.

it’s a style of singing that requires a long period training to do well without hurting your vocal cords; having an actual performer of the art do it is how it should be done. im pretty sure the singer is different from the speaking CN VA too.

Edit: I understand this is Mihoyo’s home culture. I still respect the attention to authenticity.

Mihoyo is paying attention to authenticity and respecting the cultures they derive their characters from. There is NOTHING wrong with her voice just because it’s not what we in Western cultures are used to. I will definitely be pulling her during 2.4

I think people might appreciate her singing more once we hear more of it in-game. I haven't really listened to Chinese opera before so it did sound strange to me at first, but the more I listen to it it sounds quite nice

There's nothing "wrong." Yun Jin was just built and created differently than the rest.

I remember when everyone wanted Yunjin, now some people are considering if they will get her due to her singing. What a shame.

I’m Chinese, and Chinese opera was a huge part of my childhood when I stayed over at my grandparents’ place and every morning when I woke up I would hear and see it on the television. As a kid I of course didn’t understand it or appreciated it but revisiting it having grown up, it hits different with all that nostalgia and the accuracy is immaculate. Great appreciation for this detail added in.

It’s like you will never feel weird about Japanese anime characters yelling in Japanese or singing in it. It’s just another living culture, it’s great to see mihoyo representing it.

Another geo to add to my collection. Hopefully she is good enough to put on a abyss team as I'm looking for more geo units to put in my party

The entire time she was teased and hyped up they've stated she was the director of an Opera troupe. This is spot-on Chinese opera singing and it's great that they tried to make it as authentic as possible.

What a fucking shame! They actually gave us a traditional chinese opera singer and due to so many ignorants, she wasn't as appreciated as she should have. She sounded amazing even without music but if you don't know the genre, sure it might sound ''weird'' but if you do know it was just beautiful. I truly hope we get to hear more of it.

pls be aware that this is how Chinese opera sounds like and it doesn't matter if the singer is young or old, their opera singing voice are all sound the same. You might find it funny as you never heard of chinese opera, but after you get used to hearing them u will no longer find it funny. For me it's beautiful, I usually watched a lot of classical chinese movies with my family which included songs and all of them are operas. So this is not a surprise since liyue are set in the older times where there is no technology

I am pretty sure the singing is traditional Chinese opera singing, MihoYo said they wanted to share Yun Jin's culture and this was how.

As the first character which invovles Chinese Traditional background, Yunjin requires a Chinese opera voice as it fit for her character. In addition, it is Mihoyo first time to do such thing, as Chinese myself I could get some one saying that the voice sounds like granny or weird, but if u look at the tradditional Chinese opera the voice exactly the same and I think mihoyo did a pretty good job to merge the traddition between fictional games and reality just as well as every other characters and regions. Like Inazuma and Mons, the way mihoyo pay attension to the culture background is the most charming point I would like to say, so I personally wish everyone like the opera voice of Yunjin as it represent the significante of culture reasearch done by mihoyo and I think that's why we people love to play Genshin and call it a masterpeice.

As a chinese person who has learned a little bit of opera before i think it makes sense to make the singing the chinese one as it is hard to do. I also get that some people will laugh when they hear it because it sound very unique and thats the beauty of it! I hope they can come to understand opera a bit more perhaps try to see how cool it is other then to laugh at it for being weird and different and not want Yun Jin just because she sings :>

Opinion: You can dislike her singing, that's fine no one is gonna force you to like stuff. AS LONG AS YOU AREN'T BEING RACIST ABOUT IT. There's genuinely nothing wrong with the singing and if you don't like it sure do you, but if you just start making fun of the way she sings because it's Chinese culture, that's were we draw the line.

I'm Teochew Chinese and opera singing is one of our main cultures. I feel so happy and proud that the originality is kept across different language platforms.
p/s: btw, there's a line Mihoyo veteran players talk about when discussing Mihoyo's games' lore, "If you couldn't understand the why the stories were told in these ways it is not Mihoyo's problem, it is just you haven't done enough research."
