I love these fish so much. They are so intelligent and gentle (to humans) You can literally point your finger and they will go in the direction you’re indicating, like dogs. So smart. They are very important to the environment too. I hope they stay protected forever.

It's crazy how they look like later versions of the Coelacanth, they just lack the boned fin structure and the jaw structure. They have similar bodies.

Beautiful fish. I hope the ykeep them off the fishing lists. I used to catch normal grouper in Florida in the 80s as a teen. Ones like 29 lbs and 37 lbs. Nothing like the Goliath.

if you're come to Labuan there is an old grouper near the buoy. been there for a long time and I suspect it weight around 5 ton. the mouth can swallow one mini cooper for sure...

I often go spearfishing and meet them sometimes but i could never shoot one of them because they are such a magnificent animals and i would rather sit and stare at it while it swims by than shoot it. I am usually happy with a much smaller fish around 3kg which is enough for me to take home and eat so shooting such a magnificent fish is an overkill and out of question. We need to respect the seas and nature around the globe as human ignorance and greed is thriving these days and corporations would pull it as far as they can't get away with it in order to make profit on the expense of the fish and causing environmental disasters. It will be too late before they realize how much damage they have done.
