Dear Ijeawele was absolutely the best reading experience! I also read it while nursing my youngest daughter (I have two!) and I felt she gave me words I've always searched my heart for when debating feminism. It's not about being better. It's about being equal. Amazing book for our sons and daughters (and ourselves!)

I totally agree with you about Sweep and The war that saved my life 5 stars😄 I listened to the Tolkien books and I think I enjoyed them more because of doing so.

The Nightingale is also my highest rated read book. I did give it 5 stars though. I read it before I had my channel and it would be really interesting if I were to read it again, although the ending has always haunted me!

I read The Help too and at first I rated it 5 stars, however seeing more negative stuff about it made me reconsider my thoughts about it. In the end I lowered it to a 3 star as I didn't feel comfortable with the fact it was a white saviour story :/ I still need to read The Nightingale

I share her interest in studying North Korea, so I'm planning on reading every last book on her list, escape story or no -- but she does list a fair amount of books that are strictly about escape stories, if that's what you're interested in.

I'm going to read The Heart's Invisible Furries soon because I just finished A Ladder To The Sky the other day and I LOVED it.. the main character was the most horrible person ... but the writing was sooo good that it makes me want to read everything he's written!
