Sicily is almost always overlooked. A solid argument is that Sicilian wine is as good (if not better) than Northen Italy’s, if you did not try Nerello and Nero D’avola, especially what is made around Etna Volcano, you cannot claim you know all about italy’s wine

There are thousands of wine labels in Italy. I recommend you get to know the PDO names of the region where you visit and go pick bottles from the supermarket and sample. Restaurants will usually jack up the price by a 3X. Don't buy the bottle if you never had it or cannot figure out a fair price point for it. 9 out of 10 you will be disappointed.
