Port of New Orleans is still the fourth busiest port in the United States

Lansing is actually larger than I expected lol. City population of 112k but a metro population 4x that

El paso does border Juarez, and if you combine both cities' populations, it's pretty big

Katrina kinda put the nail in the coffin for N.O. growth. There are still parts of the city that haven’t recovered 20 years later

The combined population of El Paso and Juarez is 3.4 million, and you can walk from downtown El Paso to downtown Juarez by crossing a short bridge. They definitely should be considered one metro area, since so many people cross this bridge every day for work.

Literally every single one of those is at least twice as large as I would have guessed.

Katrina played a LARGE part in New Orleans' decline and Houston's increase in population.

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is a good one. despite the huge size and amount of tourist it only has about 30, 000 people

I wouldn’t call anything over 100k population “small”. But I guess it’s all relative.

Most US cities after New York are smaller than you’d expect. City sizes drop off very fast.

Before watching I know New Orleans will be on there, it got destroyed by Katrina. My other guesses are Juneau or Pittsburgh

I live in Chambersburg. We're about 25, 000 people. Franklin County is about 130, 000 or so .

Glad you used metro population, local government populations are almost meaningless. but I did check NO and some sources say 1.2m metro pop is the US census bureau stat

From Santa Fe here. First of all, awesome to see us in a video— did not expect us in this short! But I don’t think anyone really thinks it’s that big— in fact, many have never even heard of it, thinking Albuquerque is the capital. But it is a very charming town that I recommend people visit!

I thought Santa Fe was much smaller. When I went there in 1964, the county population was 45, 000, and it felt like a small town - not like a city at all.

Lansing is the state capital, and next door is East Lansing, with a huge and important university. Very important metro area.

I live an hour away from Santa Fe, I've only been there once and did not expect it to be so small.
