Sami Yusuf’s instrumental composition ‘The Meeting’ is a deeply moving and intimate work. Direct and non-linear, the melodies and rhythms sustain and support one another flawlessly as the music moves fluidly between Western and Middle Eastern modal systems. Solos by Huseyin Can Pala on baglama, Eyüpcan Açikpazu on ney, Onur Cicin on qanun and Hasan Hekimoglu on oud circle each other to create an embracing ambience where each melodic line is a subtle gem, strong and fragile in equal measure.

In diesem tief beglückenden teil des konzertes, höre ich neben den vollendet schönen klängen auch die mich tief berührende freude der mitwirkenden musiker und sänger, teil davon zu sein. Der christlich spirituelle, wuderschöne chor, das einfühlsame flamenco orchester amsterdam, und sami yusuf mit seinen meisterlichen musikern. Alle mit herz und seele voll dabei. Die gegenseitige liebe und hochachtung zwischen den musikern der verschiedenen kulturen ist hör- und sichtbar. Die ganze komposition vollenderter harmonie durch alle mitwirkenen ausgedrückt. Die übergänge von einer kultur zur anderen sind so leicht und bezaubernd, als wollte Sami jusuf dami sagen, : " seht doch, es ist ganz einfach! Wir preisen alle denselben gott mit freude an unserer verschiedenheit! " Sami yusuf der begnadete komponist und liebenswerte dirigent sitzt wie immer inmitten seiner musiker, bescheiden sich als teil des ganzen orchesters fühlend und geniesst die himmlische musik offensichtlich selber.
