About Me:

I was born in Macclesfield and very rarely leave. I mainly discuss books on this channel but every now and then something else will slip through the net. I'm interested in most fiction, and enjoy books that tell stories about older characters as I feel they're often under represented in literature. Lately, I've become interesting in telling and discovering working class tales.

I have a BA in Creative Writing and have been the secretary to the Macclesfield Creative Writing Group since 2011. In 2015 I independently published my first book Our Doris. The book follows the eponymous Mrs Doris Copeland, atomic housewife, with a rock bun recipe that can make even the most secure dentures shudder. There are two sequels, Indisputably Doris and Doris Ahoy.

In 2020 I released An Heir to Murder, the first in a cosy crime series featuring Alice Valentine.

I haven't read any Angela Carter but she totally seems like an author I would like.
I wish you luck with all your April reading!

I think I’ve delaying reading Jess Kidd’s other two to delay the gratification. Himself was so good! 🥰

I've always been quite tempted by The Mermaid and Mrs Hancock, and yet not quite tempted enough to actually buy the thing! So will be interested to see what you think 😊

It’s almost as if this video was made for meeee, haha (it’s my birthday today so I’m taking this as a birthday present!)
First of all David Mitchell!!!! Yessss, I personally like Cloud Atlas but it’s not my favourite of his, I think that you would quite like it too!! Will be intrigued to hear your thoughts, and perfectly you talked about The Old Drift, which is also in some part inspired by Cloud Atlas so they’re perfect companion books!!
I also have been eyeing up Monkey for a while now, I can’t wait to see how you find it!

The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle is a very exciting page turner mystery. I hope you like it as much as I did.

I was meant to read Cloud Atlas for uni too! I think I ended up reading a few bits from it, but never the whole thing. Hm. I think it was interesting (not sure if I liked it haha). That Seven Evelyn's thing ALWAYS confuses me haha. I feel like you should prioritise Monkey because it seems like you just really want to read it and you might as well while you're still in the mood. :)
