today I take a look at the new roblox game NINJA , an in-development roguelike taking inspiration from games like Deepwoken. You can buy early access for $100, which is a pretty absurd pricetag. so I wanted to see if the game was actually worth $100 in it's current state. wow not a the strongest battlegrounds video for once lol

This game is basically a scam...AAA games don't have you pay half of that for a FINISHED game, and they have the audacity to make you pay 200$ for tester...

literally everything in this game looks like it was made straight out of tutorials bro, if this is $100 I fear for the future of roblox 💀

No game is worth 100, especially a roblox game for a game that is not finished and that we don't know if it's going to flop

Nah, this games setting is actually so weird now that you've mentioned it. Why does the player have a hawk instead of a phone or something? WHY is there a bright, glimmering city amongst the huge forest and mountains?? If they wanted to mix the styles their should be a ton of small towns/cities with the same bright buildings scattered throughout land, instead Its just one huge forest and a random city for some reason.

The other weird thing is the clothing also just straight up doesn't mix either, why does your character and plenty others wear clothing resembling old Japan, but there's an NPC that has a suit on? Why can an elevator exist but the player's character doesn't even use an actual glider?
Also, because the game has a modern elevator, shouldn't guns also exist? Cause guns were created long before modern elevators existed.

Also like you said, a lot of developers are starting to incorporate permadeath into their games just for the sake of it. These devs definitely have rogue lineage syndrome, and are obviously heavily inspired by deep too. Which inspiration isn't a bad thing but when you do it too much, the game loses its identity and is just referred to as a watered down this or a copy of that.

Anywho I'm gonna end my rant that nobody is gonna read with another problem I've seen devs doing a lot lately, which is having ZERO uniqueness.
This is something rogue lineage suffered from too, where all the classes are based of stuff from other series nearly to the point it feels like your playing a jump force game or something. Oni, Shinobi, Abyss-Walker and more I cant remember off the top of my head are literally not even inspired, just straight up copied from other media because they couldn't think of anything else.
This game having Akuma's Demon Rush and a plethora of other skills that are inspired off of other games is sad because I genuinely dont think it takes much to come up with your own unique moves.

Another game I can use as an example is Deepwoken, all thanks to yayafino who loves added his anime slop into the game (Table flip, Reverse Flame-Repulsion) which I and many others are starting to hate. But Its not like I'm one of THOSE deep complainers, I like the new bladeharper oath despite its quest literally being bankai. But I don't care AS LONG AS THE DEVS TRY TO MAKE IT ITS OWN THING, lime made the oath fit well into the world because of the sky statues, and the dialogue (Which is actually probably rag's doing but still.)
Sure the oath mantras clearly take inspiration from sukuna, but as long as its INSPIRATION and not a direct copy with the mantras being named stuff like cleave and dismantle, its fine.

if i'm paying 100 dollars for a game it better be on par with Black Myth: Wukong and Elden Ring combined

Trying to see this from neutral prespective. Like you mention before, this game currently have the perk that give access to wave zero and the 100$ perk that let you play rn, so I'm pretty sure the 100$ or any other perks at this game was fundraiser for the dev team, and it's absolutely okay, cause it's a choice whether you wanna donate or not, and alot of Indie/upcoming devs team project do this method. But eventually I'm sure this game would cost around the same with deepwoken more or less.

You could buy celeste, terraria, hollow knight, bloodborne, and even library of ruina, and still be left with 5 dollars.

This game wouldn't even be worth pirating if it were possible.

Deepwoken had more to offer in early access while still 20x cheaper.

"It's to make a gated community, " and that makes it justifiable to charge 100 dollars for it? HELL NO! Do you know how dumb that sounds? Like I can't even begin to explain it.

This game kinda reminds me of this game i used to play, it was called "Verdant Moon", there i met this guy who helped me learn how to play the game, after a few days, he disappeared and never came back, i never knew what the game was about, i couldn't find any good tutorial on how to play it and the only interesting thing i found, is a video where the guy who made the video says that one admin is banning everyone who plays the game, i think the reason the guy was doing it was like to "let the game die", i don't really remember but, no idea if the video was real or if the admin did get to ban everybody, but when i played the game, the servers were not full no more, and then i stopped playing, i will check the game and see if people are playing it.

I checked it out and it looks like the game isn't dead yet, it doesn't have much people tho, and im way too lazy to do the search about the admin to see his reasons and also im too lazy to play the game and actually learn how to play it, check it out tho, its cool.

Ik this game is in construction and i know he said this already
But this game will probably
All fall apart because if one dev wants higher pay the others will follow leading the game to be managed poorly: in conclusion the game wont last if they dont get their shit together

at 4:00 its quite common in japan since they value traditions quite a lot so you might find old houses somewhere in the middle of the woods and go to a city with massive design difference. though i get what you ment.

Unaronically, the fact that the game is called "Ninja" yet there is no Ninjas in-game is already a red flag. ☠
Ik this sounds nitpicky, but remember that a game title is one of the most important things abt the game - its literally Game Design 101. Now pair this with the REST of the actual game, and suddenly everything clicks.
