The Minecraft Survival Guide Season 3 continues in Minecraft 1.20.4!
In this tutorial, we return to the End to make a classic Enderman farm for unlimited xp and Ender Pearls!

First, I catch up on progress with the floating island and villager trading hall, and discuss the merits of buying Ender Pearls from Cleric villagers if you don't need a huge amount.

Then we move to the End and build Gnembon's "Ender Mini" farm, a classic Java Edition Enderman spawning platform which requires very few resources and zero redstone to build, takes advantage of the total lack of terrain in the void of the End dimension, and with a single Endermite driving the farm, gives players access to fast, unlimited Ender Pearls and xp orbs.

Along the way we discuss techniques for getting down to the lowest Y levels in the End, blocks to prevent Endermen from spawnproofing, and the mechanics of Endermite spawning!

Survival Guide Season 3 world seed: 787419271612053211

... Unless you're on Bedrock Edition. Sorry folks, but the mechanics in this farm don't translate perfectly to Bedrock - you're better off looking up a farm specifically for that version.
Also, thanks for your patience while I've been gone the last couple of weeks! I had fever and headaches for a few days and a sore throat that lasted a bit longer, but I'm back to normal now :)

Using leaves also provides another potential teleport-proofing option: Endermen will avoid teleporting onto water-logged blocks. While leaves are already spawn-proof, water-logging them makes them teleport-proof as well. You only need to do that for about 32 blocks out from the farm, as that's the maximum teleport range of endermen.
Also, in case anyone is worried about the many XP orbs – that's not a problem since 1.17 anymore. Orbs of the same value can stack up, similar to items, but have no relevant stack size limit. Since endermen drop two different orb sizes (2x 1XP and 1x 3XP), you should not get much more than about 80 orbs (there can still be up to 40 orbs per size that will never combine with each other), and that's not really in lag issue territory yet, especially compared to the 70 enderman mobs. The orb stacking also slightly increases your XP intake rate, since the random element here only picks between XP orb entities, without weighting them by their stack size.

Ah, the classic Gnemblom Ender-mini from Minecraft 1.7. Yes, One-dot-seven! Very few farms and redstone have a legacy like this. So not only are you making one of the most efficient and easy Enderman killers, you are also participating in a bit of Minecraft history today.

This farm has been around for a long time and it's a testimate to it's creator that it's still the most efficient Enderman farm. There are other designs that are also pretty efficient, but basically nothing beats this. It still boggles my mind that Gnembon showed such a mastery of the very programming of the game, and then so perfectly modded the game (Carpet Mod is super cool) that he ended up getting a job with Mojang.

Thank you Pix for continuing your guide series, keep up the good work.

One tip if you're just looking at enderman all around for aggro: use a spyglass! Very easy to get a good view of their beautiful faces.

I like the touch of flowering azalea leaves for the player side of the farm, and nonflowering for the enderman side.

A massive tip for those attempting to make this farm - Don't wear any amour that has any Thorns enchant on it - otherwise when you catch the endermite it will kill itself as it hits you (Voice of experience here that wasted a lot of tags, time and head scratching learning the hard way) :D

I've been watching for a while and keep thinking to myself that the storage building looked best inside when the ceiling/roof was open, therefore letting more light in. You could put a glass dome up there and take the garden out, and I think it will really brighten the whole place up nicely!

It might be worthwhile setting sneak to toggle instead of hold. Did that while End raiding yesterday, and Ancient City raiding the day before. Really saves your hand.

I would totally build this if my brain wasn't so paralyzingly anxious about falling into the void.

When it comes to making a cobble column to the bottom of the world, I like making 4 at once by placing one solid block at least one block away from where you're standing and placing the lava on top. When lava reaches the bottom, remove lava and place water on the same spot. That will create 4 columns of cobble in a cross shape. Mind the center block which will only one block deep. From there it'll be easy to build either bubble column or a ladder. I haven't seen it done this way in the YT community.

I know you make alot of effort making this, but tbh I only get excited to sleep in night is bc of your videos, I can’t sleep because of overthiking and watching minecraft videos helps me sleep. It’s a compliment so don’t worry 😅💗and then I rewatch them in the morning while playing

If you throw some glow lichen on those sea lanterns it makes them look antique.
