Vienna is repeatedly named the most liveable city in the world. But what makes Austria's capital so great? If anyone knows, it's Mathias. Together with Cari, he is out and about in the city and shows her and you what works particularly well here. Whether it's good public transport, affordable housing or the proximity to nature: Vienna does a lot of things right. But there is also one category in which the city comes last in the world.

I (an American) spent just under two months last summer in Vienna for a German immersion program with my university. I've spent time in Germany and a little bit else across Europe but Vienna was such a fantastic city that I genuinely forgot I didn't live there! The integration with nature is so fantastic, there's lots of nice hikes to do in and just outside of Wien, the public transport will absolutely spoil you everywhere else! There's so much history embedded in the city and it's rich with culture. We did a different activity every single day and it never got boring! Despite the completely different culture and the somewhat cold people (which I did encounter a couple times), I would move back there in a heartbeat.

Ich lebe seit fast einem Jahr in Wien und fühle diese Unfreundlichkeit überhaupt nicht. Sogar finde ich die Leute hier VIEL netter als in Ungarn woher ich komme, egal ob österreichische oder ausländische Herkunft. Ich habe hier überall Geduld und Hilfsbereitschaft getroffen und hab nichts wirklich negatives erlebt. Sei einfach normal und der Andere wird auch normal, wie überall in der Welt.

I live in Bavaria with my wife. Vienna is a fun city to visit we quite enjoy it. We find Austria is a lot more like Bayern than a lot of other places that are actually in Germany.

Thanks so much for this video! I studied German in high school and college and am trying to re-learn in hopes of traveling to Austria and Germany in a year or two. I loved Vienna when I visited in high school, and I think it just may be the right spot for a longer stay!

Ich komme aus Australien und ich liebe Wien! Ich war schon dreimal im Urlaub in Wien und habe mich nie gelangweilt. Es gibt viele Museen und schöne Gebäude, grüne Plätze und es ist sehr sauber. Ich finde die Menschen freundlich und nett! Vor allem im Vergleich zu Berlin (wo ich jetzt lebe). Trotzdem liebe ich Berlin auch! 🇦🇹 ❤️🇩🇪

Bis 2005 war meine Lieblingsstadt Paris. Mein Traum war es, sie kennenzulernen und zu erkunden. Aber das Leben ist nicht immer das, was man erwartet - die Liebe brachte mich nach Österreich und die erste Stadt war Wien... Es war Liebe auf den ersten Blick. Ich habe mich komplett verliebt und obwohl ich seit 15 Jahren in Österreich wohne, ist es immer ein Geschenk für die Seele, zurückzukehren!
