How To Paint A Front Door

I hope you’re having a great start to the week. I painted my front door and I’m sharing how I did it without removing the hinges and keeping all the door lock hardware on! Before I share can you guess what color I’ve painted it?
What do you think? I’m glad I didn’t go stark black because that would have been a little harsh for my taste but depending on how the light hits it, it reads a warm black.

Keep it.
It helps keep the hot & cold air out .
Love the new look. Thanks for the tutorial detailing how you accomplished this.

The front view looks better to me without the storm door. Your new painted front door looks great!

Keeping the screen or storm door on increase the lifespan of the painted front door as well as protector wreaths

I have painted many, many paneled doors both exterior and interior. For me it is much easier and faster to use a mini foam roller after cutting in. Use a good Purdy brush for cutting in and you wont have to use tape. As a pro painter told me its just better to put the paint where you want it to go.

The color you chose is beautiful Denise! This video came just in time - I have a couple of exterior doors that need a new coat of paint! I have come close to thinking I should remove them first but you have convinced me to not take that extra step! Thanks Denise!🥰

I would remove the storm door…
Love the new look of the front door 🤩

I would paint the screen/storm door because your use of wreaths would be limited because of snow and ice if the storm door wasn't there. Keeping the inside door open because of the screen helps with air circulation too.

I really like that color- in my opinion, I prefer that a door have sidelights if I'm going to have a storm door. Since, your house does not have sidelights, then removing the storm door would really make your freshly painted door - POP. ha ha..a nice DYI term...POP

For security alone, I would keep the screen door. It also allows you to open the door and let natural light in, while keeping insects out. The door looks great! I thought you would use a roller to smooth the paint out, but it looks great!
