I love how this dude exclusively mentions his mistakes so we don't have to make those. you don't see people do that often, really like it!

I really like that you showed your mistakes. Thats how we all learn! Nice piece.

Your table is beautiful. The fact that it’s imperfectly perfect is a bonus!!! It’s art, handmade and fabulous.

I like how crisply edited this is, a lot of people would have taken 5x longer to give the same information.

This was so cool.

Love the cross section of a beach look. I imagine this would really complicate things but I would have been so tempted to add the ruins of a sunken ship to it.

When I do my epoxy work I don't bother polishing. Most any clear finish will cover or make the epoxy go back to gloss. Ive used clear nail polish, clear spray paint, Gloss poly, and also sometimes go back and just brush a thin layer of epoxy over the edges/sanded areas to make them clear. Saves loads of time

Optional ways to make it look more "oceany" that I am thinking of for my attempt:
while concrete is still wet poor in sand and press down lightly and then use shop vac and air compressor to remove sand from mold, leaving a thin sand surface that stuck to the concrete. Press in seashells if desired, a sand-dollar would look great! Maybe go to craft store and purchase dried/fake starfish as well. Maybe some decorations from an aquarium store/section meant to put in fish tanks? I've seen fake corals, anemones, and even fake fish like clown-fish and such.

LEDs would be a cool mod to make the epoxy glow. Cool project!

A few sea shells, after the concrete dried, or partially buried in the concrete, might have looked cool.

brushing a thin layer of epoxy over the sanded epoxy makes it glossy and clear. Also would seal your concrete and make it look "wet"

Damn, that Danish oil finishing looked amazing.

Why are people saying add things to this?!? It's perfect. Adding seashells or model shipwrecks would make it look so kitsch and like a souvenir from a beach town. This is art, as is.

One of my In-laws loves the beach and this has given me a slew of ideas for future Christmas gifts.

This is one of my absolute favorites for multiple reasons. The lessons and pros/cons as well as the ingenuity and the carpentry skills. Thank you for doing this!

When I saw the title I thought it was a Pete brown video

If anyone is wondering if lights can be incorporated, I used a dollar store led light kit submerged in resin, works great. It was a similar project and have to be creative with hiding the battery pack. I hid the LEDs behind broken prices of resin to hide the shape of the bulbs. Nice video, great job!!!

Should've put a dead fish in it.

Or fake fish at least lol

I think it looks great, straight out the gate he stated he had never worked with concrete or epoxy and didn't hide his mistakes!!! Big up's!
