Lehigh County (PA) Transmitted the box at 2:09AM for 640 5th Street, Whitehall for a house fire sending Engines 37, 39, Squrt 38 and Ladder 36 under the command of Deputy 35-1 (Bilder).

Police arrived and reported smoke from the roof of an apartment building at 655 5th Street with people possibly still inside. The box was upgraded to entrapment bringing in Catasauqua Ladder 2, Engine 2, Greenawalds 11 for F.A.S.T. and Air 32.

Engine 37 arrived first-due and secured a water supply across from the target address and stretched a hand line into the first floor. A Whitehall police officer was helping with advancing the hose for the lone firefighter making entry. Ladder 36 arrived with Squrt 38 and Engine 39 right behind them.

Crews searched the apartments and found no one inside. A second hand line was stretched through the front door about 20 minutes later.

One firefighter was treated after falling through a floor and another first responder was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

It took about 30 minutes to bring this fire under control. The Fire Marshal office is investigating.
