I work at a hedge fund so I’m an “insider” in the industry. It is incredibly impressive that Lex doesn’t have a finance background but knows the EXACT right questions to ask. Such a great interview

I remember my entire mindset on investing changed when I heard someone say that as your money grows, you can see yourself as a resource allocator. Your giving resources to companies which you try to make sure are the best because they will use that capital in the best way possible which will give a return. In a sense, Warren Buffet isnt just an investor, but he gets trusted with billions of dollars of resource allocation to a particular company, hence why fundamental analysis of a company is important. Companies that are able to use said resources properly will get rewarded with more allocation.

I’m still surprised by his Netflix purchase and sale. He believed in Netflix until he didn’t a few weeks later. Bought at $350-375, sold at $225-240 and now NFLX is $580+. If he’d held or dollar cost averaged instead of jumping in as he did with both feet, he could have made a huge profit. I don’t claim to know what he does, and we all make mistakes, but that was a strange move.

Lex is seriously the best interviewer, he’s always himself no matter who he’s talking to.

It's intriguing to consider the balance between valuing a business's long-term growth trajectory and the critical nature of purchase price in investment returns. However, I can't help but ponder the ethical considerations of investing in fast-food chains, given the health and environmental implications. Should investors weigh these factors more heavily, or is the financial return the ultimate goal? It's a thought-provoking conversation that goes beyond mere investment strategies, touching on broader societal impacts.

I had the best rainbow trout in a little zum brucke in Germany, pan fried in butter... perfect.

Quality of the beef is more important than prep method (grill vs fried). I would rather eat raw grass-fed/finished straight from the butcher than any form from fast food chain.

I always thought Chipotle could make Hibachi just as easy. Just Soy Sauce & Yum Yum instead of Salsa & sour Cream.

Here’s a better question, how to decide which companies to short?

Are you sure the food at Chipotle is healthy? Do they use non seed oil like coconut oil?

I am the cousin of the King of Nigeria and due to a coup my bank account has been temporarily frozen. If someone gave me $5000 today I would pay them back $10, 000 next week
