Wohlan, die Zeit ist 'kommen (Gekürzte Version)

Erstmals erwähnt in Ludwig Erks Volksliedersammlung aus dem Jahre 1838.

Wohlan die Zeit ist kommen,
mein Pferd, das muss gesattelt sein.
Ich hab mir's vorgenommen,
geritten muss es sein.

In meines Vaters Garten,
da steh'n viel schöne Blum', ja Blum',
drei Jahre muss ich noch warten,
drei Jahre sind bald herum.

Der Kaiser streit' fürs Ländle,
der Herzog für sein Geld, ja Geld,
und ich streit' für mein Schätzle,
solang es mir gefällt.

Du glaubst, du wärst die Schönste,
wohl auf der ganzen Welt, ja Welt,
und auch die Angenehmste,
ist aber weit gefehlt.

Mir gefällt es immer, wenn die alten Lieder der Vergessenheit entrissen werden.

but that is quite mistaken." These stanzas are some among many in existence, you can find others online. As far as I know they tell a much longer story, hence "short version" in the title.
