AI for Architects?

I see AI tools - like Midjourney - as an amplifying force, a mirror for our own creativity. I’m incredibly excited by AI’s potential impact on the architecture profession and yet still very much a student trying to figure out a way forward. #AI #architecture #midjourney

Good to see you tackle this subject Eric. At first i thought AI was cheating, but i tried it and although it doesn't give you the final answer nor a magic solution, it does prompt some alternatives one might not find in their own imagination. It's like a work colleague describing a dream but you get an actual picture of it. Like having a second imagination.

I think Ai is going to be significantly beneficial to Architects whom are sometimes restricted to create by constraints of complicated design softwares.Architects will now have the benefits of focusing more on the creative process without having to ponder on how to bring it to fruition using complex rendering softwares.

I fully agree - it helps to find ideas we because of our own bias would not have thought of. Plus based on with what we feed the AI we have a very attractive randomizer.

You still need later to analyze the AI results and extract design leads.


I used it this semester in my teaching and it was wonderfully wonky for I detail and quite impressive to even replace 3D rendering.

I would love if you would have a client that will make you explore more of the traditional architecture plus a mix of Energy-right architecture. Your style is kind of awesome and modern, but more and more people are starting to long for more traditional architecture with good details and functional decorations, plus our earth need better ways for us to get out electricity and powerneeds covered. ❤

I started testing IA image generation to create interesting renders from a rough design... the results are interesting.

Very informative video but I‘d have to strongly disagree. I believe AI takes away a lot of the human creative curiosity, exploration and creativity in the long run. I’ve seen it happen in the digital arts as well as simple assignments in my fellow students at Uni. I get that it can help jumpstart an but since it’s based only on previous knowledge and predictions of the future, it seems very soulless.

You do realise that AI will outperform you on every level within 5 years? At that stage you will just be getting in the way and holding it back.
