In my opinion, GT4 intro really gives you the feeling that I was about to drive in the most epic race of all time... the orchestral music, those slow-motion shots of the Ford GT... everything is perfect. And the game? Just awesome, with all the pros and cons.

18 years ago I walked into a video rental store and picked up Crash Team Racing for PS2.. and the disk was scratched. Didn't work in my PS2. So I went back.. and there was GT4 freshly released. The shots of the Ford GT on the minimal white background must of got to me. I picked it up with my dad to rent, and finished the B license that night completely in awe of the game, the music, the descriptions in all the dealerships that scrolled along. I couldn't stop thinking about it for weeks until my 5th birthday, when my granddad handed the game to me I was so happy to see it again. That was the start of my obsession with not only GT but cars as a whole. I can say I wouldn't be me without this incredible series.

When the C4 Corvette was confirmed in GT7, I suddenly remembered it was the first car I ever drove in Gran Turismo franchise in 1998. That car has a special place in my heart. Along with that red Oreca Viper from Gran Turismo 3 and Alfa Romeo 156 from GT3 and GT4, which started my near endless love and appreciation to Alfa Romeo.

This video made me feel pretty sentimental, hence the essay

You know, that gt4 intro had a bigger impact on 6 year old me than I can imagine. I got the gt lm race car on gt7 last week at last. I only ever really did arcade mode on gt4, but still I always dreamt of owning this car. Can't wait for gt7 content updates
