I got my bride an iPad Air-1 in 2014 w/128GB and LTE for school. She earned her BFA from scratch using this beast and is now almost finished with her MFA. She uses this as her content consumer outfit, not as a creator tool (except for papers and journal articles). All we have done is replaced the glass (once) and replaced the battery (once). It cost $900 back in 2014 - was it worth it, you bet. When she graduates, her present will be a new Apple of her choice (M1/2 model of some form). Best investment I ever made, except for my bride!

My grandparents have had this model since 2014. I played the FNAF games on it when they were new and they’re now wanting to get a new one but don’t want to pay for a new one lol. I have a 9th gen iPad currently so I’ll recommend this model to them since it’s modern tech and the cheapest variant.

I bought this Ipad Air 1 when my first child was born. It almost 9 years, and still healthy. The downside now mostly because I cannot install new apps update, alot of improtant apps is not supported anymore.
But, yes, it was very good investment. My son had alot of good time play and learn with this ipad.

Have an 2. gen mini (Same soc) as Second device and its still a very good device, if you can get one for 50 Bucks and under its a very good device for Daily tasks...
And it still gets Security Updates, the last one was just 2 or 3 mounth ago...

I actually had the ipad air 1 and now I use the iPad 9th gen tbh the iPad air 1 was basically a old gaming iPad.
