Hi, I'm Ashni!! I've been on #Twitch since 2013 and because of my amazing friends, I went full-time in 2015. I was terrible at it. And one day my sponsor called me on Skype and said: "There will be a lot of people who make it on Twitch, but it will never be you." So I stopped and learned as much as I could. Now I make content to help other streamers pursue their dreams and learn to stream, because he was right. There will be a lot of people who make it. And I'm going to help them.

I am now a professional #StreamCoach, full-time content creator, and Twitch Partner. The #YamFam is our community of streamers who are linking arms to take over the world. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ I also love business, travel, plants, and puppies.

This was so timely for me! I was going on live streams where people just โ€œnetworkโ€ and I stopped โ€œnetworkingโ€ because like you said, it was just a number game. This was here on YT to gain more people! But they werenโ€™t interactive or even cared to watch your content or would just click on a video and say come over to their side and completely screwed up my watch time. I want a community. People that actually engage and want to journey together! Thank you for this!!

We all grow better together. Just making friends and cheering each other on and showing up for their streams and giving feedback can be such a huge help. When and I know someone is a streamer on youtube or twitch I shout them out and make a big deal about it. Give first every time.

Best 7 minutes I have spent in a while. In my current job, this has played true for ages, and I have found years of success with is. To see you sum it up in 7 minutes is astounding. People spend thousands if not millions on books saying the same exact thing!! Well done.

This is my favorite video of yours that Iโ€™ve watched so far! Iโ€™ve met the best people just popping into random streams and hanging out. Some have turned into viewers, but all are friends!

Hey Ashni!!! I agree with this. Networking has lost it's TRUE meaning In the twitch world. Friendships are essentially the same as having a network. Friends help friends. networking in my mind has always been the action you take to make genuine friends. It's being someone who truly wants wants to make relationships that have a balance of committing to being there for each other. I wouldn't stop using the word networking, I would just aim to change peoples understanding of it. That's my goal. Networking =building solid relationships!!!

All of this. It's great advice for all business. I know that i tried 'networking' as you describe it and was chasing numbers, and I felt anxious all the time, I couldn't form connections, I burnt out so easy and i just wasn't myself and wasn't happy. It was only when i took a step back and reset myself that I was able to move forward. I completely put aside the numbers and just focused on talking to people like they were people and everything felt better and easier and real. It still takes a long time to grow, but now you're forming real relationships that can potentially stand the test of time.

This really resonated with me. It is so easy to get caught up in the wave of "I need to do better" and "numbers" even if that's certainly not the intention. This made me want to re-ground and re-focus, reminding me what I really started everything for.
Thank you! <3

omg about
i was so over being told to "network more" and seeing "networking" threads on pages. it's so forced and inauthentic that it just makes me cringe. i hate it so so so much.

Well.. To be fair.. I've been told 'your twitch isn't growing because you don't network.' I've been told this by MANY people. And I've agreed, because I don't "like" social media. I don't want to "be active on 3-5 platforms/communities" in order to succeed on Twitch. I just want to have my twitch channel, play games I actually enjoy to play, and meet people who come in my channel to see me or the game I am playing and get to know them throughout their returns to the channel, and grow like that. However - I'm assuming all those people who told me about 'networking' were correct.. Because my stream has not budged from 1-2 viewers on average, even on 8 hour stream days. Feelsbadman. :(

And to add the info, in case it's brought up - yes, I have actually made an attempt at the social media things, and I have made twitter, facebook, reddit, discord, steam group, etc.. They just don't seem to grow. Much like my Twitch. T_T

I don't think I have ever used the word networking and associated it with numbers. Perhaps I was thinking of another word very similar to what Ashni was talking about in the video as in just meeting people no matter what their "position" is in streaming or wondering how they can help make my channel grow. I am glad that my channel is growing slowly, it leaves room for me to make improvements and to grow a decent authentic community. Awesome stuff as always Ashni. :)

I'd like to share a story because I feel like it fits here. I used to stream a lot alone but after a while I felt like it would be so much more fun to play multiplayer stuff. Since my irl friends are not into gaming in general (and even if they were they just wouldn't be able to speak english) I went for looking for random streamers who play the same games. I messaged around 8-10 people explaining that I'm looking for people to play with, didn't mention networking (didn't even know that word back then probably) and they either never replied or just answered vaguely. They acted like I'm trying to steal their viewers or something like that... (Except for one who I'm friends with ever since and she is amazing <3 ) People are so focused on the numbers and they just don't trust others anymore which is sad.
With this being said, I met a lot of people throught their friends and I think it's the best way. You meet people who share your interests and just like to hang out with you. You'll meet more people through them organicly I believe. I get a lot of love and support from them, because I handle them as human beings, not just numbers as you said :)

I saw your other video on 5 things to improve the stream, and I gotta say I was doing all except two of them:
Building relationships with other streamers and communities
Play the "correct" game. Althought there is no "correct" game, you have to play games that you enjoy, there is absolutely strategies to make you more visible.

I started streaming in English and then I moved to my native language. Spanish. Because I thought I was getting no growth because in English there is a ton of streamers more than in spanish, and so public.
The most important thing in the strategy about growing is to play games you enjoy, but games which on your language, you can easily get in the top 6.
You have to be charismatic, engage with your audience if you have one, and if you don't have, act like you have it.
Literaly all you said is correct, from my prespective.
Once you start to grow it is critic to interact with other streamers, play with them, make a relationship and the rest will come along. It is a time investment, a relationship investment, but it will be worth. You will be making friends and that will be impacting your stream, for sure. Spamming is never a good idea. You have to be a lurker, engage with other people and socialice. Because twitch is about socialicing while playing videogames.

I like your videos. You are very clear and concise.
You are as cute as correct ;)

I like to see that I am doing things well. Growth then comes with patience.

I follow games on twitch (mostly retro games with a small number of broadcasters). So I meet/discover most of my twitch friends that way.
