An article titled: 'Barbie' meets patriarchy, again? Why Margot Robbie's, Greta Gerwig's 'Barbie' Oscars snubs touch a nerve.
Oscar nominees Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera react to Margot Robbie's, Greta Gerwig's shocking exclusion from Best Actress and Best Director categories. Does it overshadow their nods?

Here is my opinion.

Ken had an entire character arc and learned something by the end of the movie.
Barbie was Barbie.

No offense to Margo, she wasn't doing her best. Ryan was acting better. The movie itself was so confusing. Oh the Ken's are discriminated against to the point that they're all homeless and the "evil plan" was to have a fair election.

I'm a girl and I genuinely tried to watch this movie with a somewhat open mindset, but the amount of gender-dividing drove me absolutely nuts

It truly saddens me that two of the most privileged people on the planet didn’t win a meaningless award that would’ve been nothing more than a monument to their ego, at an award show that normal people don’t give a shit about.

🙃🙃🙃

The biggest snub is Minus One being only acknowledged for its special effects when it is some of the best narrative cinema I've seen in theaters in YEARS.

Patriarchy is when I am a millionaire celebrity with a successful movie, but I’m jealous because a man in MY OSCAR NOMINATED MOVIE gets a particular award that I don’t. I’m a woman, and I could not be sicker of this kind of thinking.

There are women throughout the world who are actually oppressed, endangered, and need help. But let’s focus on THIS THING.

Minions made a billion dollars. At that point I realised that just because a movie makes a bunch of money.... doesn't mean its good or deserves awards.

Also, does anyone even watch award shows?

Gosling was nominated for best supporting actor, not best actor. Margo Robbie, wouldve had to have been nominated for best actress since she was the lead actress in the barbie film. meanwhile America Ferrera was nominated for the best supporting actress like Gosling. So a barbie actress was nominated for a supporting role just like him. Robbie was simply competing in a different category and didn't make the cut. Apparently there were much better lead actors out there that year that where better than what Robbie had to offer.

I enjoy the fact Godzilla Minus One got Nominated for Best SFX. I enjoy that was the VERY FIRST ONE in the franchise's 70 year history.

The movie wasn’t good but Ken was the best part about the movie.

I’m just Ken anywhere else I’ll be ten.

"There is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig"

Make a Ken movie then.

Ryan was actually trying to be a convincing "fish out of water" Ken discovering the Real World for the first time. Margo...just blended in with the other Barbies.

That lady at 10:50 is crazy. She definitely gave off the "I don't want equal rights, I want more than you". I'm pretty sure she is talking about the speech that snapped the brainwashed Barbies back. Which was hamfisted.

A lot of people don't care about the Oscars anymore. I mean I haven't seen the Barbie movie. But it seems to have done fairly well. They even snubbed Godzilla minus one, cause Japan had to show Americans how a Godzilla movie is made.

As a Barbie fan myself from childhood, I absolutely hated the Barbie movie it felt like it was made by someone who hated Barbie

Barbie is a typical case of a feminist propaganda movie that tries to portray men as the "villains" but ends up failing and making them heroic and sympathetic (at least the Kens) ... it's not the first time this happened, it's the same thing that happened with Alan Moore and Rorschach from The Watchmen .. he created him to mock objectivism and conservatives, gave him strong convictions that he is willing to die for and thought people would hate him, turns out he was loved and respected by many people for standing up to what he believes and being ruthless with criminals.

Ryan’s nominated for an Oscar for his heartwarming portrayal as Ken?

You know the term "It's so bad, it's good"? Well, the Barbie was so woke, it became inadvertantly based.

Ok, but that line "Quick disclaimer to filmmakers, Margot Robbie is not the best casting choice if you want to push this message" had me rolling

I see what you did there 😊. The very same people also like to ignore that the movie had EIGHT nominations and somehow this was the greatest travesty.
