you have to have an axiom to hold moral beliefs some people hold their axioms in physical provable things like pain is bad why is pain bad because it sends chemicals yo the brain that react to lure us away from doing the same action and some people put their axioms in a magical book that was written 6000 years ago passed down orally and translated across many languages and writen as what you'd expect from a human of thar time understanding the world and not like a all knowing God telling them things it would have been impossible to knoe at the time
