Ok, Ray is definitely starting to get back into his groove. The bad puns, dad jokes, and trolling of us is back! Good to have you back, Ray. Cheers for all you do from Down Under.

Having just done this repair to my FJ, one shortcut, since you're not changing out the shoes; is to release the parking brake cable from the frame (2 bolts) and pull the axle straight out and put it to the side. Change the seal and o-ring and put the axle back in, and then you can go crazy with brake clean to wash off the components. We all know how much you like that. Nice job as always Ray. Thank you.

That's one big Corvette, I didn't know they made them like that in the 70s

Ray, on the retaining pins on the brake shoes, try using an 8-10mm socket with an extension through the hole. You should be able to push the cup in far enough to spin it 90° and release it.

years ago I learned that you can use 2 zip ties tightened all the way down to compress those outside retaining springs for the pins. If you get them in the right position, you can snip the ties and pull them out, they won't get hung up on the shoe or the retaining plate. Take like 3 minutes per side now to reinstall! Works every time. Thanks for posting, bro has an FJ and this may come in handy.

Camera drop. 22nd time is a charm. Glad to see you are back in form. I wanted to see you pull the parking brake to see if it still rolled or needs an adjustment

"Stud won't break at 120 lbs" It very well could, every time ie is over torqued the stud is stretched just a little bit more, eventually it gets to its yield limit

Hi Ray, good to see you are doing much better. I whish there more people in our lives that are honest and look after their customer's needs and budgets. Well done Ray.

Hey Ray 👋 . It's probabl 35:57 y a bad idea to clean oil off of brake shoes 👞, and then re-use them. The oil has saturated the brake shoe material. When those shoes get hot 🔥 the oil will still come out of the shoes and not grip the drum. Take it from a commercial vehicle mechanic, and inspector.

I’m shocked that you did not replace the friction material.
