What’s in your tap water?

As a water filtration technician for one of the biggest filtration companies in the world, tap water IS a nightmare. He's only mentioned 10% of all the things that can be in your water, and plastic bottled water leeches microplastics. Look into reverse osmosis, and how to build your own filtration system for your fridge, under-the-counter (UTC RO), coffee makers, etc. Once you learn it, nothing about it is difficult except getting backpressure on the drain line enough to force water through the Reverse Osmosis Membrane, which there are several versions of. You can get a 5-10 GAL holding tank to tee off right before the membrane and after the main sediment/carbon stage(s) to keep semi-filtered water on demand and help keep your supply at maximum.

Keep in mind different RO Membranes will DRAIN varying amounts of water, the water that is too contaminated to get through the membranes pores. This might mean your water bill gets a little higher.

I do mainly water coolers, ice machines, coffee brewers, and sparkling water in commercial applications but also DI for medical and dental offices and there are so many things that can impact the number one thing that dictates your life span.

The most widely available tester is a TDS meter, which will measure the Total Dissolved Solids, but like he said doesn't test for chemical/organic solvents. Sediment and carbon blocks can mitigate most physical material, but RO is the only way to remove these contaminants, but RO water is SO CLEAN it will STRIP COPPER FROM PIPES AND DESTROY FIXTURES that are not meant to handle RO water. There's a reason water treatment plants have to put all that stuff in there, or something worse would replace it.

I use a Waterdrop faucet filter. Honestly I feel it’s pretty good. Water is crystal clear, no smell, clean taste. For like $40 it’s solid.

My grandma lived till 98 and ate what she liked and drank tap water she was fine ill copy her i still eat meat dairy amd fruit primarily though simply becaise thats what i enjoy.

As far as I know water filters for the perfect host for large colonies of bacteria. What is your solution for that? Luckily the tap water in the Netherlands is incredibly clean

AND ... where I'm at the local govts are expanding city water lines DEEP into the rural areas as fast as they can go. Why? Still haven't gotten any answers to that.

Just buy Chaudfontaine natural mineral water in a glass bottle, you won't find any better water. Water samples from Chaudfontaine are used every year in the labratory Marie Curie in France to determine the international water standard!
