well, just for the record, that yamaha gadget is not BT audio, it is analog audio over radio waves…. that is why is latency free.

2018 iPad Pro user here. I have been using Logic Pro with zero latency issues. I have a Hyperdrive USB-C hub going to my iPad, and then an Arturia midi controller and a Yamaha AG06 mixer going into the Hyperdrive hub, then headphones and studio monitors coming out that the mixer. Been really digging the experience overall. Coming from a full time Korg Gadget 2 user, Logic didn’t take long for me learn. Also, the subscription plan is fine; at least it means if they have to continue to deliver updates, improvements and new features, to me if I’m gonna keep paying month to month. I’d rather use a piece of subscription software that is continuously supported and updated than a perpetual license software that will rarely get a fix update if I encounter an issue.

Audio technica Bluetooth headphones has zero latency. These are pretty good but the only issue is the sound is not as loud. But I here what your saying regarding making the new iPad with multiple ports. Good points

Great points! I love using my iPhone with midi controllers. I don’t use the screen as much while playing so instead of carrying an iPad, I carry midi controllers for the iPhone that’s already in my pocket … overall better playability. The headphone jack issue is so true tho. I can’t see them adding it back but I would love to see high quality dongles on the market. Something that is built like a tank w/ a powered usb hub so you can connect everything you need right there.

Thank you for pointing out the latency issue. It's been bugging me so much that they started removing the headphones jacks from their hardware to push their stupid wireless headphones. On the other hand, why aren't there more companies pushing bluetooth midi controllers tailored to the popular iPad apps. Akai makes a controller for everything but they have somehow stopped making one for the iPad after their lackluster first try. This dongle ish is really holding back iPad music making so much...

I’ve been using an iPad with usb dongle adapters & zoom l12 interface for years. Not an issue. I think the headphone jack is never coming back personally. Not really a big deal to me.

You can get a mophie USB-C cable to connect your AirPods Max to Ipad (I know not everyone can afford it, just an example) and I believe that is no latency with the cable and I'm sure there are other ways to connect other headphones to the iPad. I think this is the future, it's just the beginning until other companies develop new products that adapt to the iPad.

I was also disappointed that Apple did not ask Jakob Haq for their promo video. They also didn’t ask Pete Johns! I do hope that Logic for Mac stays in its current form. Already paid for it and would be awful if it becomes a subscription too.. the removal of the 3.5 mm headphone port (on iPhone and iPad) is probably the worst decision Apple ever made. Latency free Bluetooth isn’t possible because Bluetooth cannot transmit large chunks of data over the air. But I do know that Apple is working on this to make it possible to use Bluetooth headphones without latency. Although Logic Pro for iPad is subscription based, I don’t mind it because I can easily transfer projects I’m working on between my iPad Pro and iMac. Only if every company is going to subscription based software instead of an one time purchase, I will ditch many software I’m currently using. Great video.

Bluetooth audio takes a few milliseconds to reassemble the packet data. There is no such thing as true latency free BT audio. It's a limitation of the packet data process and checksum processes. by the way im not sure if you know about Koala Sampler which is an app that im sure you will love because it just like an SP404 but with a better and faster work flow and at the same time its also an auv3/vst which you can use inside an ios daw, which i would recommend Aum, because Aum is like koala Sampler other half, because with Aum you can make Koala Sampler a very power app, more powerful then the SP404 specially when it comes to mixing and mastering your Koala Sampler projects completely in there using a few auv3 processors and fx, also u can get some auv3 instruments which you can then play and sample them right there and all those apps are not subscription based, because you can buy them and did i mentioned that you can screen record like youtube video for example and import the video audio into koala Sampler easily and do your sampling thing which is what i do !

As a Final Cut and Logic user (making my living off of it), I was excited about the iPadOS versions, but the limitations seem stupid, so I won’t be even starting the subscription.

Final Cut on iPad does not work with projects on external SSDs (good luck with an M2 128gb iPad Pro).

Logic seems like a small upgrade over all the other DAWs on iPad, so I do not think that many users will adopt it, losing the output jack always seemed like a dumb and redundant move on the iPad (there is plenty room on the body)

So the sensible thing now is to watch the review videos and wait until the software brings any real benefit to my production.

I have an old iPad with a headphone jack, that's fast enough for audio apps. I think USB-C iPads will be better though for audio, can you connect a class compliant audio interface to that with a headphone jack? I think you probably can!
