I really dig the idea of a pedal week! You did something like that some time ago (I remember you reviewed the TS9 and the Blues Driver), it would be awesome to have a pedal week again XD

I prefer your original work to covers. All the covers I've heard before and, to be honest, the original material is getting on for 50 years old. Plough your own furrow ;-) Time to move on whilst learning and taking inspiration from the greats, which you do so well.

I loved those videos you did with the tube screamer and blues driver. Totally vote in favour of the pedal week stuff.

Another great one Dave. Vibrato without question. Speed overdone is gimmicky and boring. Notes played with sensitivity convey your emotion and message. 😊

1. I played along with you in the intro jam and it was so fun.
2. Pedal week sounds like a great idea, you should definitely do a delay pedal though because I’m in the market for one too and whatever one you buy, I’ll probably buy too lol
3. Definitely great vibrato over speed I agree

The clamping down of anything vaguely reminiscent of a copyrighted piece has got totally out of hand and creators are so powerless to fight it! But as #DaveSimpson said, it does force a bit of extra creativity which is a really positive outlook on the situation!

Damn..creative intro..that's a sound that so many of us chase..listening to the opening through a pair of Bose headphones is like the sound itself was created from a harp held by the muse that's deep within us all. Mad props mate, incredibly orchestrated

37:55 black is easy to do. I bought a crappy old vintage strat, can't remember the exact model, but they used to sell as a bundle with a practice amp for not muych more than £100. oh, it was an encore E6 ... part of the vintage brand I think. Anyway, I wanted to make it look like Duff McKagan's bass, so to get a black headstock I bought some veneer intended for a les paul from a proper guitar supply and glued it onto the strat headstock. took some work dampening it and holding it in place to get it to dry the right shape because strat headstocks curve up to the nut. once dry and the right shape it can be glued in place. threw on some clearcoat and a white fender decal from ebay. There is a variety of decals available on ebay.

Emotive and melodic. Us John aficionados will always choose that over senseless speed.

The Squier Contemporary series comes in a black version with black headstock both Tele and Strat. You can also get a Standard Stratocaster in black/chrome wich also has a black headstock. The John 5 Telecaster also has a black headstock. They all have silver Squier logo, some have gold letterings and some have silver lettering.

30. 30 years. Been 10 since. I touched one. I played and would return to the kit just to jam with you bro. I've been writing post Katrina storm that took my equipment which was not easily replaceable. I borrowed a couple and sat in after moving to Ga but soon purchased a keyboard and started writing. Uploading to YouTube. Then one day I came across your channel and a few others. Since i taught my son i figured i could further my guitar knowledge. Hes no doubt a bad ass. I uploaded a video of him. Lol. But my journey into airy atmospheric blues guitar has been quite fun. Wont stop. Thank you for raw emotional music.

C#m is closely related to E major, so it is probably the richest key for the guitar, no wonder you love it.

Actually it was the best concert I have been at.

i'm going to try your method of learning the fretboard, as i have trouble remembering the notes by name ect, at my age 54 i think my brain is getting fuzzy and it's harder to learn lol.
love your channel and music. great stuff dave respect.

I had a similar progression. Minor penatonic was the first mind explosion and id say i went a good 15 years of only playing that scale in the 5 positions but then it got really stale and i got sick of it so my second blown mind moment was when i learnt the Major penatonic and it was so easy to get to with the same shapes only 3 frets down. And lastly MODES learning modes expanded the penatonic scales to epic proportions. My next thing is gonna be CAGED system and Arpeggios. I feel that will unlock another explosion.

I enjoyed figuring out that all of those extra notes u showed me those videos a while ago were. Just the missing notes to make it a full major or minor scale depending on what note i started on.

Thanks for educating us on off brand quitars. As always though, it is the artist that makes the music. The guitar is just a tool, like Michelangelo's paint brush.
