I commute to work by train, and the bus services in my area are so crap that train strikes are a big inconvenience. But however much of an inconvenience it is to me that doesn't matter next to the need for rail workers to be treated fairly by their employer; I back them 100%

As a tourist there in February the service needed more people. I would turn up at a station and there was no one to help me and when I go lost again no one to help me. It was one of the worst services I have come across. The staff I did come across were excellent, couldn't help enough, though you could tell they were stressed. I say nationalise the railways and give them a decent wage. As for the fares my god you pay through the nose there.

All these arrogant "journalists" are hoping to catch Mick Lynch on a gotcha moment, just what did the comment "I am a human being, a middle aged woman and I am a journalist" have anything to do with the interview? She did roll out the regimes words verbatim and then got into a paddy when she was called out. Very amateurish on her approach to the interview, and she was deservedly roasted.

I recently tried to purchase a return ticket between Newcastle and Hexham which would allow me to hop on and hop off at various stations in between. The automated ticket machine did not recognise the ticket I required. I approached a member of staff manning an information kiosk. She advised me to go to the ticket office. "What ticket office" I asked. I thought it had been closed months earlier as it was no longer at its prominent position in the centre of the station. The lady told me it had been moved to an out of the way location at the far end of the station which is rarely, if ever, visited by passengers. I went to the newly located ticket office, explained what I wanted and received the correct ticket in seconds from the polite and very knowledgeable member of staff. I had naturally assumed the ticket office had been closed. This ticket office has clearly been moved to discourage people from using this service with a view to closing it permanently due to a lack of use by passengers. This cynical tactic is a disgrace. It is costing people their livelihoods to maximise shareholder profits. As a customer, I would also have incurred extra costs for my ticket as I could not get it without the help of staff.
